Easter Eggs, Parties and Kittens

It was another jammed packed weekend for the Millers!

Saturday morning, the company Brent works for, hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for all it's employee's kids.  This was our second year to participate and C had the best time.  Of course having one of her BF's from school could have had something to do with it.

Both their little eyes lit up when they saw each other!

These mornings are always fun.  They had a few activities for the kids and the Easter Bunny was there for pictures although C didn't get within 50 feet of him.  They also had Broadway the Clown come do a little magic show.

Once the show was over, it was time to get our hunt on.

Brent gave her a little pep talk before they turned them loose because egg hunting is serious business.  I had to remind her AND him that there would be no knocking kids out of the way.

She filled her bucket with eggs and came running back assuring me she didn't hit or push anyone.  That's my girl! They were so smart this year by not filling the eggs with tiny crap that I'm going to throw away as soon as I got home.  Instead, they gave each kid a bag full of goodies to take with them.

After the egg hunt, we came home to relax for a few hours then we were back out the door heading to a birthday party for one of C's school friends.

The party was a carnival theme and was a kids dream.  They had two bounce houses,

carnival games,

and kittens!

Not that kittens are typically a carnival thing but C was in love!

This one ALMOST came home with us.  Apparently my husband has had a change in heart about cats (I have not had that change in heart) and is now talking about letting her have a cat.  I don't even know who he is right now.

Thankfully, she was easily distracted by the bounce house and I still have a cat free home.

Sunday, we took little diva to church.

Then headed to Franklin to see The Story put on by community churches and The Art Council.

Both my parents were participating so we went to show our support.  It was so good and was a perfect way to spend Palm Sunday.

Friendships

Many of you are not going to care about this post but because my blog is our only family scrapbook, I wanted to document what's been going on the past few days in C's life.

It appears she has had her first fight with one of her best friends at school.

When I picked her up on Wednesday afternoon, she immediately told me that her best friend had just yelled at her.  At first I didn't think much about because well, they're 4 and C wears her feelings on her sleeve.  But then she starting acting funny.  She wanted to be held and buried her face in my neck as we walked out.  I could tell she was near tears.

We got in the car and she repeated that *insert friend's name* had yelled at her and hurt her feelings.  This went on all night and she was on the verge of tears every time she talked about.  I couldn't get the whole story of why her friend yelled at her but it doesn't matter.  I tried to explain to her that friends sometimes get mad and say things that they don't really mean and that sometimes we get in bad moods and snap at people who don't deserve it.  We talked a little more but I'm not sure how much she understood because again she's 4 and this is kind of a big girl conversation.  One that I wasn't expecting to have for awhile.

I felt bad for her and wanted to make it better but I couldn't.  Brent suggested she just knock her out the next time she yells at her but that's a guy for ya.  They can have knock down drag outs and be best buddies 5 minutes later.  Girls not so much.

Bless her heart, C tries to be friends with everyone and wants everyone to like her.  Her feelings are easily hurt and she so sensitive about everything.  Look at her wrong and she is in a puddle.

I'm hoping this whole things blows over and C forgets about it.  Even though yesterday she told me it was a good day because *insert friend's name* didn't yell at her. *sigh*

I'm sure this is the many of best friend fights and we have a lot more drama headed our way.  I just wasn't expecting this to all start so soon.  Looks like mama is going to have to get medicated sooner than we though! ;)  Kidding.  Kind of.

Weekend Fun

Our weekend was jam packed with fun activities!

Saturday morning, we headed over to a birthday party for one of C's dance friends.

You know it's going to be a good party when you pull up and see this...

and even though it was a princess themed party and all the girls were dressed up, that didn't stop them from playing on this thing all morning!  They didn't care if their skirts flew up showing off their delicates and if their feet got caught up in their dresses, they hiked them up and played on.

Not long into the party, a special visitor showed up, Elsa from Frozen!  The girls flipped out!

She read them a story during snack time and then did makeup and nails when everyone was done.

Once everyone was dolled up, Elsa taught them dance moves to her song Let it Go and they performed for the moms.

They were so stinkin' cute and loved every minute of it!

C has already asked if she could live at her friend's house because I'm sure she thinks it's like that all the time!

After the party, we did a quick change, picked up my mom and headed to the square in my hometown.  There was a festival of sorts going on and I wanted to visit a few shops downtown.  We even got to visit a new shop in town where C scored big time on a new necklace that she got to make herself.

Naturally it was a Frozen themed necklace.

The fun didn't stop there.  The three of us headed to Bowling Green for a little more shopping and then my mom and I got a rare movie date just the two of us.

We went to see God's Not Dead.  Wow!  If you haven' t seen it, you need to.  It was a pretty awesome movie.

C got her own little date with Pap!  She talked him into all her favorites.  Chick-fil-a for dinner, the mall for a train ride,

M&M chocolate chip cookie,

and Barnes and Noble for reading time,

 and playtime.

Her life is tough.

Sunday, we went to church then enjoyed playing outside all day until it was time to go to my Granny's for dinner.  We got home just in time to put pjays on and hit the bed.

All three of us had a hard time getting up this morning and weren't very happy about it being Monday and having to function.  Early bedtimes for all of us tonight.

Pre-K and Clifford

Last Monday was C's first day in the Pre-K class at her daycare.

We honestly weren't expecting this until the fall but her other class was getting full and they needed to move some of the kids around.  C was thrilled!  A few of her BF's had already moved up so this made the transition super easy.  Well for her at least.  I'm having a hard time realizing that she is so close to going to school for real but this class is a good head start for us.

Her new teacher is hard core about getting them prepared for school and makes them stay in line no matter who they are.  There is no babying and no favorites like in our other classes.  She scares me a little but C seems to love her and the class so it looks like I'm the only one who needs to suck it up.

We did get to have some fun over the weekend with the class "pet", Clifford.

Each student gets to take Clifford home over the weekend and on Monday, turn in pictures of your adventures.  No pressure at ALL to have a fabulous weekend so you don't seem like the lamest family EVER to a bunch of 4 year olds.  And it didn't help that C started the weekend off saying 'Clifford's sad.  He misses his mama and daddy' so I felt even more pressure for Clifford to have a good time so he wouldn't be sad and he would like us!

So we made everything seem super exciting like our trip to the DMV on Friday afternoon.

Our lazy Friday nights when we are in our pjay's at 5:30pm and sitting around watching movies and eating popcorn.

C did provide us with some entertainment on Saturday afternoon when they played dress up and put on a show.

I bet no one else has put a tutu on Clifford.

After church on Sunday, we took Clifford to TSC to see the baby chickens.

C LOVES when they have the chicks and begs every year for us to get some.  It is a little hard to walk away from those cute little things but then I remember what they look like all grown up and how they smell and well, NO THANK YOU!

Later that afternoon, my mom came to town because C and I needed a break from the NCAA tournament and needed more adventures for Clifford so he wouldn't be sad.  (Seriously at this point I felt sorry for Clifford because he was always sad and missed his mama.  Should I be worried that this is coming from my child's imagination or should I be more concerned that I'm worried about a STUFFED animal?)

We took him to the library and read him some books,

then went to Sams, the mall and out to eat.  Not the most exciting weekend ever but hey we did our best and C thought it was the greatest thing ever to have Clifford at our house.  I'm just glad it's over because worrying about Clifford has taken its toll on me.

F-O-U-R

Thursday, Cecilia turned 4.  As in 1,2,3,4.

This year has hit me harder than any other.  Maybe it's because she is becoming more independent each day and acting more like a little person than a toddler.  What ever the reason, I'm struggling.  But before I end up in a puddle, I'll share how we celebrated C turning 4.

I decorated our house a little more than I normally do mainly because we couldn't decorate at the place that I had her party.  Which was fine.  It made our house a little more festive.

Of course C didn't mind one bit.  She loved everything being pink and Hello Kitty.

After I got off work, Brent and I took C bowling.  This was actually at her request.  She has been asking us for a couple of weeks to go bowling and we thought her birthday was the perfect time for her first experience.

She LOVED it and couldn't get enough!

She was pretty good too.  We had the bumpers up but she kept it down the middle the majority of the time.  The first bowling experience was definitely a success!

The three of us, along with my parents, went to dinner at Cracker Barrel (another one of C's request) and then headed back to our house for gifts and cake.

Since I had ordered a big cake for her party, we just picked up a small little cake for the 5 of us to enjoy.

C made her Pap work for his cake.

Who needs clowns when you've got a Pap that will juggle on your bday!

Then it was time for PRESENTS!!!

On Saturday, we had a party with all of C's friends at a local ceramic painting place.

Lots of her friends came and all the girls seemed to have a good time.

C and her friend Lucie

The girls were super serious about painting and hardly made a sound.

They got to play while we cleaned up the painting mess.

And then it was cake time!

I was in LOVE with her cake!  We are super lucky to know a pretty awesome girl who makes amazing cakes that not only look fabulous but taste just as good as they look.

C got SUPER shy during the Happy Birthday song and I tried not to have a breakdown.

C also got this cute little plaque with her name on it and all her friend's thumbprints who attended the party.

So sweet!
Our fun wasn't over after the party.  One of C's dance friends also had a party Saturday so half of our party did a quick change and ran across town to party #2.
Her friend, Darby, had a Princess Sophia party and all the little girls got to dress like their favorite princess.

The girls made necklaces, ran around like crazy and spent some time hanging out with Princess Sophie herself!

C had so much fun, we nearly had a meltdown when the party was over.  I reminded her that she still had one more party to attend the next day.  Yes that makes 3 birthday parties in 2 days!  We are just wild and crazy like that!
Lucie, pictured above with C, had a fun party at Tumble Town where all the kids got to run around, do flips and jump on a trampoline.  I got zero pictures because for once C wasn't attached to my hip and ran off to do her thing.  She stayed busy hopping from one thing to the next and having a blast!

Whew!  After a weekend like that, it will take me until next weekend to recover but we had a lot of fun celebrating with all C's little friends.
