Back to Reality

Reality didn't hit as hard as it was supposed to last Monday thanks to the snow storm.  It was supposed to be my first day back to work but obliviously that didn't happen.  Well technically I "went" back to work but thanks to a very cool boss, I worked from home all week.  It was truly a blessing because by the end of the week, I was ready to get out of the house and coming to work Monday didn't seem so bad.  :)

C was beyond excited to wake up to that much snow.  Her eyes got big as saucers when she looked outside.  She asked her daddy 100 times when they were going to go play outside.

She could have played out there all day if we would let her.  She is a snow bunny for sure.

She even wanted to help Brent shovel the driveway.

Anything to be able to stay outside. :)

Me and this dude stayed inside where it was nice and warm.

Even though being cooped up in the house for a week about did me in, I was so glad I got that extra week with C and U.  It made these past few days not seem so bad.

In non-snow related news, C hit the red carpet on Sunday.

She really likes watching award shows which is a little weird so for the Oscars, I thought it would be fun for us to get all dolled up and watch the rep carpet coverage.

She was so funny about the whole thing.  She needed makeup on and even requested perfume.  Ha!

U joined us but he wasn't as excited about the red carpet as we were.

And here are the kids on Monday morning eager to go to school.

I made U a special little onesie for his first day.

He did amazing and his teachers just love him.  Since we've been at this daycare for almost 5 years, we know everyone and I felt like I was leaving him with friends.  One of his teachers took care of C when she was in the nursery and she has been excited about getting to take care of U .  I haven't had a huge meltdown (yet) and I think its because I really do care for the teachers there and I know they will love on U as if he were theirs.

And because we are still trying to figure out who U looks like, I did a little comparison of him and C.

He is twice the size she was but they do favor a bit.  We'll see if they continue to favor or he will completely change.

Life Lately

Any other time, 6 weeks would feel like a lifetime but when you are on maternity leave, it goes by in a blink.

I've really enjoyed my time off with my kids and going back to the reality of work is going to be hard but it will be nice to get into our new routine.

And before I turn into a puddle on the floor, I'll tell you about mine and C's fun afternoon.

We went to the Princess Tea Party hosted by the Bowling Green High School chorus again this year.  C and all her dance friends had so much fun last year, we all decided to go again.

This year C went as Snow White.

I was so excited she picked this outfit over her Elsa dress.  Every other girl was Elsa so it was nice to see something different.

All the dance friends

C and her friend Lucie

We even ran into my cousin's daughter who used to be in C's class at school.

A lot of the princesses were lined up when we first walked in the door but C wanted nothing to do with them.  No pictures, no chats, no nothing.  Awesome.

Thank goodness those high school girls are SO sweet because otherwise C wouldn't have had a magical moment with Snow White.

C talked to her for a good 20 minutes asking her questions and being in complete awe of her.

I have no idea who this girl is but I could have hugged her for the way she acted towards C and her friends.  She gave C one of her fake rings she was wearing and the look on C's face was priceless.  It was as if she gave her a million dollars.

After the Snow White visit, C was on a roll talking to the other princesses.

I can't say enough nice things about the high school students.  Every one of them went above and beyond to make those little girls feel special.  They didn't wait for the girls to come to them, they went to each table and took the time to talk to the girls.  They are top notch in my book.

I hope we get to go back next year.
