Southern Gentlemen

Sunday, I, along with 6 others ladies, hosted a baby shower for our friend, Kelly (gal in the blue).

We had a southern gentlemen/bow tie theme.  We kept things simple and rustic using bow ties where we could.

We had southern type finger foods along with some delicious desserts.

Nothing says the south like banana pudding, fried apple pies and mini pecan pies.

Loved these glasses!  The bow ties added that special touch.

It was hard to get a picture of the bow tie garland but it was super cute.  Jaclyn had the idea and I brought it to life.  Between this and all the other bows, I've made enough to last me a bit.  :)

Everything turned out adorable and Kelly was showered with lots of love and gifts.  We can't wait for baby D to make his début!

Girl Time

C and I had the chance to have a little girls weekend while Brent was out of town visiting friends.

We didn't have time to do lots of girly things because I was busy getting prepared/hosting a baby shower but we managed to fit in a few fun activities.

I had some last minute running to do on Saturday night and C asked if I would take her to the mall the ride the carousel.  Sure!

After that,  she told me she wanted to walk around and look.  I've trained her right!

We came home ate dinner and played our 50th game of Candyland.

The child LOVES this game and we play multiple times a day.

Sunday was the baby shower so the majority of my day was filled with hosting duties.  That night, my parent's church was hosting its annual Hoedown and we went but not before enjoying one of our favorite Cajun meals...red beans and rice!  YUMMM!

So blessed my dad has Louisiana blood in him because some of my favorite meals are jambalaya and red beans and rice.

Our fairy princess...

There were lots of fun little activities for the kids to enjoy like pumpkin decorating,

cupcake walk, bowling and a few tossing games.

C had a great time other than one of the adults dressed like the Michelin Man.  She kept one eye on him all night and stared freaking about as soon as he got within 20 feet of her.  Halloween is definitely not a favorite of hers.

We ended the night, like all great days with no nap and lots of activities, with a car ride home with a screaming, crying, tired 3 year old.  She finally passed out on the way home and I wasn't far behind her.

Things That Have Made Me Smile

1.  This video is so cute and I hope it wins Katy Perry's contest.

2.  I'm not sure why I'm just hearing about Mix and Match Mama but she has a new fan.  For someone who has been a meal planner for years, this chick just made me so VERY happy and my life so much easier.

3.  I may not be 13 anymore but I think every girl/woman needs to hear these words.

4.  This video brings back so many memories.  My parent's house sounded a lot like this when I was little.  And sadly my house now sounds a lot like this and this is TOTALLY Brent.

In A Flash

Where did the week go?  It seemed to happen in a flash as did the weekend.

Saturday, C and I went to get our hair done.  She told to her teacher on Friday that she was getting it cut and colored (repeating what I had told her I was getting done).  And before the appointment told me she wanted her hair colored yellow.  Didn't happen but she was really good as always for Betty.

Saturday turned out to be extremely cold so we stayed indoors and I whipped up C some pumpkins shirts.

I had mama's guilt because she had zero festive shirts.  Quick trip to Walmart solved that.

Sunday afternoon, we, along with everyone else in a 50 mile radius of BG, went to Jackson's Orchard.  We typically try to avoid large crowds but I really wanted to take C so we sucked it up and went.

She had a blast playing and going to the petting zoo.

She had no interest in the hayride so we spent the majority of our 3 hours there on the playground.

With no nap and that much play, I was expecting an early bedtime but she has been hyper ever since we left.  She just finally closed her eyes!

Monday is coming all too soon.

What We've Been Doing

I will take my cue from Phil Robertson and say that last week was happy, happy, happy.

Wednesday, my brother and sister in law flew in for a long weekend.  We haven't seen them in person since Christmas and we were super excited!

C spent the night with my parents on Wednesday and spent the day with everyone on Thursday while Brent and I worked.  She got lots of one on one.

She spent the afternoon with my mom and Leslie getting pedicures and ice cream.

That night after work, my whole family (grandmothers, aunts, uncles and cousins) got together to have dinner.

Someone was a little smitten.

Friday, I took the day off to so C and I could spend the day with Mo and Leslie.  Brent had to close that night but we were all able to go to lunch before he had to go to work.

After lunch, we made the trip up to Jackson's Orchard but sadly, it started pouring the minute we got there.  We thought it might blow over so we ducked inside to look around the shop and watch the workers sort the apples.

The rain continued and there was no sign of clearing up.  We decided to go with Plan B...the park.  Oddly enough, it wasn't raining on that side of town.

They ended up spending the rest of the night with us as well and we enjoyed just hanging out and watching movies.

Saturday, we all had separate weddings to go to.

C was so good and we had lots of fun!

Sunday, was a major chill day.  It rained most of the day and it was perfect to sit around watching football and doing crafts.

I had a project to do for an upcoming baby shower and Leslie jumped right in to help me.  I loved getting to spend the one on one with her and she was a MAJOR help.  What I thought was going to take me a couple of days, ended up taking us a couple hours.

Our last night together, us "kids" went to Mellow Mushroom for football and pizza.  It was the best way to end our time together.

The rest of the week has been a blur because C had caught whatever crazy funk is going around and I was out of town for 2 days for work.  Some how we have managed to survive the week and we are SO glad the weekend is just a moment away.
