Our weekend turned out pretty fabulous.  Mom and I had a good time Friday night at the women's event at church.  We spent Saturday doing chores around the house, watching the Olympics and begging C to use the potty (she decided to take the day off potty training! Argh!)

Saturday night, we met at Outback to celebrate my mom's birthday.  On our way out the door, C spotted her "new" toy.

  Our neighbor's girls have outgrown this little trike so he gave it to us. It was a huge hit!

C and I before dinner.

After dinner, we came back to our house for cupcakes.  Brent and I had stopped at GiGi's before dinner to pick up this lovely little things.

Yikes!  They are sooo good but oh so NOT healthy!

Then on Sunday (my mom's actual birthday), C and I headed to my parent's to hang out.  We Skyped with my brother and sister in law who wore birthday hats the entire chat!

We went to my Nanny's late afternoon and ending up picking cucumbers and squash out of the garden.

This was Cecilia first experience with the garden so Nanny showed her the ropes.

The only part she didn't get was that you were supposed to KEEP what you picked.  She keep throwing them back in!

After picking, I took her over to the fence to look at the cows.

I thought she would be scared of them but she wasn't at all.  Nanny tried to get them to come a little closer so they could pet them.  Too bad they were smart enough to know about the electric fence!

Next time I'll have to bring boots so we can go in the field and get closer.

Our night ended with a quick Jeep ride around the country.

Cecilia was dead asleep in the car within 2 minutes of leaving my parent's.  She had simply had too much fun.

A Few Fun Things

We are in full potty training mode right now!  I feel like I say that a lot but this time, all 3 of us are on the same page.  It all started last week when she was accidentally put on the potty at school.  To her and the teacher's surprised she managed to pee!  She was so proud of herself as was all the staff at school.  We made a huge deal out of it and she has been eager to use the potty ever since!  We keep getting reports like this from school...

and the other night I bought these to hopefully get us full potty trained over the weekend.

Everyone was right, she started on HER terms.

After work Wednesday, I met up with Emily and Alicia at Stakz to catch up on life.  It has been forever since I've seen this girls and it was nice having some girl time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm in the middle of redoing our living decor. It all started with the coffee table that we redid and now it has evolved into rearranging the whole room.  I've taken lots of things out, added a few new things and have a list of projects that need to be complete.  One of those items is to make new pillows for the couch.  I scored this material last weekend and am in LOVE with it!
It ties all my colors together so perfectly.  I can't wait to see it all done.  Hopefully that will be soon.
We have a busy weekend ahead of us.  Tonight, my mom and I are going to a women's night at my church.  Tomorrow night, we are going out to eat for my mom's birthday and Sunday (her actual birthday), C and I are going to my parent's to spend the afternoon with them while Brent works and has a guy's night out.  Doesn't leave me much time to get any projects crossed off my list but maybe I can get started on one.
Out of Whack
Last week Brent had to work most every night until 9pm which is not normal for us which means that I have no idea how I survived the week.  For that matter, I don't know how Cecilia survived.  By night 3, she was done just having me around and letting me know it. Whew!  We just function a lot better when Brent is around.
It wasn't all bad.  We went on nightly walks, built a 100 castles, laid in bed and watched tv until she fell asleep and watched the storms come in the other night...
On Friday I thought her and I needed an adventure after school.  Something fun that would take the sting out of Brent having to work late again.  I decided to take her to the library since she loves looking at books.  It was a fabulous choice!  She had no idea how to process that many books at once and ran around pulling book after book.
And to put the icing on the cake, we found a Babar movie that we have watched no less than 100 times this weekend.  Saturday morning the first words out of her mouth, 'me watch Babar?'  I'm not sure how she is going to handle having to take it back in 2 weeks.  Already when we turn it off, she screams 'come back Babar, come back!'
We are all so glad our lives turned back normal on Saturday.  Brent set up C's pool when he got off work so we had a late night swim.  We could tell that her water days at school has made her so much more comfortable with the water.  She was sticking her face under a little, jumping around more and even "swimming."  We may have to check into swimming lessons next year.
Sunday, we went to church then ran to town after naps.  Brent and C went to Toys R Us while I ran a quick errand.  We normally walk out empty handed because although Cecilia sees lots of toys she likes, she never fully commits to one.   Today she did.
She has played and played with this little microwave.  She LOVES to help me cook so this was right up her alley.
On our way home, we stopped at Sonic.  We are kind of addicted right now with their Happy Hours and 1/2 price milkshakes after 8pm, it screams PARK HERE when we pass.  Brent and I love their new Island Breeze drinks and Cecilia loves the ice cream.
watching Babar yet again while enjoying her ice cream
We laid around the rest of the afternoon and enjoyed our last few hours of the weekend.
Again we are so happy Brent is back with us because things like this don't happen with Mama...
Did all that just happen?
To re-cap our weekend we will start from the beginning.
Friday, C's class was having a picnic lunch outside.  They had to bring their own lunch plus their favorite stuffed animal.
I know it's a shock to see that C took Minnie.  Another student brought Mickey and from what I was told Minnie and Mickey had a fun playing with each other all day!
Friday night, we did our normal night out (dinner and grocery run) and then came home to relax.
Saturday morning, we woke up and hit the ground running.  Brent put new legs on the coffee table I'm redoing, I started laundry and then we hit up Lowe's to buy supplies for C's closet redo.
Due to my miscalculations and the guy at Lowe's failure to cut the racks evenly, we had to call in for backup.  My parent's were already coming up to see Cecilia, so my dad helped us cut the racks to the right size.
Then we went to dinner.
C before dinner...
After dinner getting ice cream...
When we got home, Brent and I got busy putting Cecilia's closet together.  Cecilia was feeling left out so she started picking up things to hand to us.
I'm SO glad her closet is done.  It wasn't horrible before but it was awkward and I didn't have the floor space I needed.
Before:
After:
Not a major overhaul but enough of one that I still have plenty of space on the top rack for future clothes and the whole closet floor for toys which frees up a ton of space in Cecilia's room.  I still have a few more things I want to do but for now I'm happy.
I also finished my coffee table but I won't show that until I've completed the rest of my living room.  It is a bit out of the box and doesn't fit in just yet with its surroundings.
Even though our weekend was full of projects, we still managed to get in a lot of play time with C.
My little artist.
Brent usually takes Cecilia to the park on his day off but this weekend they let me join in on their fun.
She goes bananas over the park!  She was running around everywhere squealing and carrying on.
I feel pretty good about our weekend and I'm ready to tackle the next item on the list!
Room Redo
I'm in the early stages of planning out Cecilia's big girl room.  I'm dragging my feet a little because she has really started to enjoy her room more and spends most of her time in it.  Kicking her out while we paint (shh haven't told Brent that we have to paint.  He is going to kill me! :)) and reorganize, I feel is going to be chaotic.  But I want it done so we will just have to make do.
Here is what I think want to do...
Love all the fun colors (another reason for Brent to call our house the clown house) and I'm really digging the wall gallery.  The other good thing is the bedding will be about my only big purchase because I have a lot of things already around the house that will work in the room.
I do, however, want to buy one of those silly animal heads!
I want an elephant though. I think it would be so cute!
I really would love to do this...
Her room is so crowded with toys, the loft bed would be perfect but I think she is still too young for something like this.
 And speaking of crowded, her closet is a disaster!  There were already storage units in the closets when we bought the house but hers just doesn't function well anymore.  I have been looking at Lowes.com for ideas and would love for her closet to look this...
but sadly, I cram EVERYTHING into a closet and pray I don't get hurt when I open the door.  Since the closet will be the easiest thing to do, I'm hoping to get it tackled this weekend.  That is if I can convince Brent.  :)  He LOVES my projects!
The 4th
To start our 4th holiday, we went to a Hot Rods baseball game here in town.  Someone was super excited to go to the ballgame.
Cecilia loved the game and enjoyed people watching.
It was still so hot by the 7th inning and Cecilia had had enough so we left and cruised in Sonic for a cool treat.
Cecilia and I were supposed to share but her sharing ability needs a little work!
Yesterday, we spent the morning relaxing around the house and making desserts to take over to my parent's later in the day.
They grilled out for us and my Nanny and the food was ridiculous!  There was a huge spread and we all stuffed ourselves.
Cecilia and I had a little photo shoot before dinner.
There were no fireworks for us this year (the ban and all) so we settled for poppers and sparklers.
Then we tried to get creative and write C's name out with the sparkler.
Take 1.
Supposed to be her whole name.
Take 6.
Condensed to CeCe.  Almost had it.
Take 10.
NAILED IT!!
We had a really good day hanging out and being together.
Hope you had a Happy 4th as well!
New Membership
We are officially new members of the Terrible Twos club!  Brent and I are so excited and overwhelmed with joy and Cecilia seems to be right at home.
AHHHHHH!  If she lives to see her 3rd birthday, it will be by the grace of God!
Cecilia has entered into this phase in full force and shows no mercy.  She is full of sass, attitude, meanness and stubbornness like no other.  I have no idea how a pint size human can have all that in them.  And this heat and lack of sleep this weekend hasn't helped matters.
I feel like we spent so much of our weekend getting on to her about her attitude or trying to calm her down from whatever dramatic episode that she was having.  Her daddy only had to say her name and she was in the floor face down crying.  Seriously?
Just last night she was sent to timeout 3 times in 45 minutes (2 minute increments) for not listening and talking back.  I don't know which switch got flipped but I need it to switch back.
I try not to lose my cool and try to stay calm as possible but when she looks me dead in the eyes and tells me no, it is all I can do not to come unhinged.
I hate that I look back on our weekend and realize that it just wasn't that great.  I mean we had some good times painting our toenails, swimming, playing, shopping and watching the Olympic trials but as a whole, we have had better weekends.
We have a few fun things planned tonight and tomorrow so I'm hoping we will all get out of our funk and have some fun.
