Rockin' It Part 2

Give us an extra day off and we will take FULL advantage.

Monday morning, Brent and I hit the floor running.  We barely got our morning caffeine in us before we were outside working on our morning project...painting the porch.

Surprisingly, it didn't take us long thanks to Brent for prepping the day before.

After lunch and showers, we ran into town to do a little Memorial Day shopping and to play miniature golf.

C had a big time knocking the ball around.

And like every other good American family, we grilled out last night.

We could not have asked for a better weekend with fun activities and fabulous weather.  I was very sad to come back to work.  At least it is a short week.

Rockin' the Weekend

We have rocked this weekend like no other.  We've been non-stop for 2 days and we don't plan on slowing down.

Saturday was spent outside doing chores around the yard and doin' a little playin'.

3rd summer enjoying our water table.

Saturday night we went to Sam and Sadie's Barnyard Bash.

I made C this bandanna skirt that morning and I thought she looked so cute.

C had so much fun at the party but who wouldn't when there's a petting zoo...

tractor rides...

cute cupcakes...

and friends...

JP was not feeling picture time.

Sunday was a BIG day for us.  Several months back, I got us tickets to see the Broadway play The Lion King in Nashville.  I decided not to tell C until the day of so she wouldn't ask everyday when we were going.
This morning I told her I had a big surprise for her after church.  She got really excited and did better than normal in church.  As soon as we got in the car, I told her we were going to pick up Momoi and then going to see The Lion King.

Her reaction...

What?

I'm positive she thought we were going to see a movie but was super surprised by the show.

The play was hands down the best thing I've ever seen.  The way the performers portray the animals is amazing!  It makes me really excited about The Beauty and the Beast tickets I just bought.

C was so good through the whole thing and barely moved.  As soon as it was over, she asked to watch it again.  Score!

And at the end of the day, C just couldn't handle any more fun.

We Added Two More to the Clan

For some reason Brent has been wanting to get C some fish for a while so when a co-worker offered him a free fish tank, help gladly took it.  Then we became parents to two fish.

C was all excited for 2 seconds then moved on to something else.

She has gotten a bigger kick out of the decorations she picked out more than the actual fish.

That scene pretty much sums up our stage in life right now.

Neither of us has ever had fish so we are hoping we can keep them alive.  Surely we can.  I mean we managed to keep C going this long.  Fish can't be that difficult.

Mother's Day 2013

Well like any holiday/birthday, we celebrated Mother's Day all weekend long.

Saturday, my mom, Nanny, C and I went to lunch at Five Chef's down in Portland, TN.

I love going because they have such good food and AMAZING desserts.  Plus there is a cute little shop attached to the restaurant that makes you spend WAY too much of your allowance money! :)

This was C's first time to Five Chef's and it was a big hit!  Especially since her meal came with a giant chocolate chip cookie.

I tried to get a few cute pictures before we left but clearly my subject was not in the mood...

After lunch, we went back to my mom's house to get my car.  C asked where we were going next and I told her home to see Daddy.  I could barely get the word home out before she busted into tears and cried that she didn't want to go home.  My parents felt so sorry for her that they offered to bring her up later when they came to Bowling Green.

What they failed to tell me was they were going to ruin going to the mall forever.

Yeah they let her ride the train AND carousel.  No wonder she hates coming home with me.

Sunday started off like any other Sunday morning for us, fights over getting dressed, tantrums thrown, raised voices and time out.  By the time we got to church my nerves were shot.  But here is the great thing about our pastor, he knows just what to say and when to say it.  He opened with the most beautiful prayer just for us mamas.  By the time he was done, we were all sniffling and makeup ruined.  Turned the whole day around.

After church, Brent and C took me to lunch.

My one request for Mother's Day was for Brent to take C shopping and for HER to pick something out for me.  He wasn't so sure of this plan and asked me several times if that's really what I wanted.  He knew that I could walk away with a "wormie" or a bag of Smarties but as long as she thought it was something I would like, I didn't care.

I think she did great with her final choice and it has quickly became the best gift I've ever gotten.

She was so excited to give me the bird feeder and we loved watching for birds all day.

It was one of the last things she talked about before going to bed.

And since it was a nice windy day, we took C's kite out for a little spin.

Daddy struggled to get the kite up so an expert had to step in.

She loved it for all of 2 seconds.

Later, Brent cooked dinner for me and cleaned up afterwards.  Score!

Even though my day started off rough, it ended with me snuggled up to C listening to her tell me about our day and how her favorite part was playing with me and Brent.  Doesn't get much better than that.

Random Wednesday

1.  I'll state the obvious...there ain't a whole lot going on at the Miller house.  Hence the lack of blogging.

2.  We are going through an ice cream phase.   She "needs" it every night.  Sadly, it doesn't happen every night.

3.  She likes to dress like me.

4.  I love the week leading up to Mother's Day.  I get sweet little crafts each day.

5.  It's teacher appreciation week (aka the week that I stress over what to get her teachers).  I kept it simple this time.  Plain tumblers + vinyl initials + chocolate =

6.  Brent and I are on a fasting diet that my brother and mom have been doing.  We are on day 3 and we have both already lost a few pounds.  Basically we are just eating between the hours of 12pm and 8pm for 4 days then normal eating the other 3.  I find it a little tough because by 12 I've already had breakfast and a snack.  The good news is I'm drinking twice as much water as I used to.

7.  The other day on our way home, C told me she wanted to go to heaven and wash Jesus' feet.  Guess she is paying attention when I read to her.

8.  We have hit the "why" stage in life.  Everything is why.  Why do I have to go to bed?  Why is it raining?  Why does the sun go away?  Why do you have to work?  Why do things cost money?  Why do you have a mole on your face?   Why do I have to buckle?  It drives Brent nuts but he loves to throw it back at her.  Of course she gets away with the simple answer, 'I don't know.  It just does.'  Car rides are never dull.
