Day 1

Brent and I love taking staycations.  It gives us a chance to relax and do things around our area that we don't normally take the time to do or do very often. That is just what we planned for this weekend.

Today, we both took extra time off and headed out to Jackson's Orchard.  I love going during the week because we always have the place to ourselves.

Cecilia loved the animals and the donkey really took a liking to her.

Cecilia loves the playground they have set up and we run from one thing to another.

We seem to always pick hot muggy days to go but I will suffer through knowing that this treat is waiting for me...

On our way home, we stopped in town at one of the squares that has fountains.

Cecilia wasn't too sure of them at first but soon figured it out and loved it.

Next time I will have to bring her bathing suit so we can really have some fun.  Who knows that may even be this weekend.  LOVE the laid back staycation schedule!

Recap

We had another weekend of fun activities that kept us busy.

Saturday morning, Cecilia and I had hair appointments.  She was in dire need of getting her mullet cut off.  I can't believe I let it get that bad but I was hoping it would just grow out.  Not so much.

I didn't take any before, after or during because she was sitting in my lap while she go her hair cut but you can kind of see the mullet in this picture.

The after...

  It looks so much better! It fans out nicely and she still has a few curls. Between the new do and her being fully mostly potty trained, I feel like she is 15.  Too many big girl activities all at once for this mama.

Saturday afternoon, Cecilia was invited to a birthday party for one of her little friends, Grayson.

Before the party.

Grayson's mama did a fabulous job having all kinds of activites for the kids.  There was a playset...

a bounce house...

Sydney totally spotting the camera and coming in for her close up!  :)

and cupcakes!

There was an option to swim but Cecilia perferred the bounce house and playset.

She had such a good time and loved playing with the other kids.  This was her on the way home.

She was not able to function Saturday night so we laid low and tried to recoup from a busy day.

Yesterday, we spent the morning at my parent's church, went out to lunch with them and came home for family naptime.  I love me a good nap on Sunday's but they leave me worthless the rest of the day.  I finished a book while Cecilia played around the house and Brent watched ball games.  None of us had much energy to do anything else.

The Phenomenon That Is My Bangs

I got bangs over 2 months ago and they are still shocking the pants off people.

I realize that it has changed my look a bit but I am quick to remind people that I have had bangs pretty much my entire life.

Age 2

 They were the thing back in the day and my mom made the decision about my hair.

Age 4 or 5, I think

So I had bangs.

Age 7or 8?

It wasn't until I was allowed to my make own hair decision did I get away from the huge bangs.  I went for thinner version on them.

Freshman in high school

People ask me what Brent thinks of them.  He met me with bangs so it wasn't a big shock for him.  This was me the Christmas before he met me.  My hair was shorter but still had the bangs.

Although he isn't a huge fan of bangs, I warned him they were making a comeback.  After 11 years, he knows anytime I say I'm going to get my hair done, to expect anything.

I really didn't think getting bangs was going to get such a reaction from people but it has.  It's become comical watching people's expression when they first see me.  Most people don't recognize me.  Then are shocked when they figure it out.   There was suspicions that I might be having an affair (found this one hilarious!  bangs = affair?).  They have been the topic of a lot of conversations between me and some co-workers that I don't see often. Some have called me Kacie Bangs.  I told Brent people acted like I dyed my hair pink.

Who knew bangs was a big deal?

Pretty Perfect

The weekend is over and I'm sitting here wishing the work week wasn't here.  Not because I don't want to go to work (even though it is totally true) but because we had a pretty great weekend hanging around the house doing much of nothing but doing a lot.

It was just Cecilia and I much of Saturday and we spent our time playing, cleaning and doing a little purging of junk.

She finds my tote of purses to be the most amazing thing ever.  Her eyes lit up as soon as I pulled it out and played for a good 45 minutes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We've added 2 new faces here when we found leftover craft supplies from her birthday party.
They have been packed all over the house and are never more than an arms length away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Brent washed the cars on Sunday afternoon and had an extra set of hands to help.

She imitated his every move.

She was soaked when it was all said and done but she had the time of her life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lately Cecilia hasn't been walking with me at night but I finally convinced her to go on a Sunday afternoon stroll with me.
Clearly it was a very relaxing time for her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We capped our weekend off with a picnic at the park.

I'm all about a picnic, Cecilia is all about the park and Daddy goes along for the ride.

Her outfit was her choice.  She sometimes has an opinion about what she wears.

She ran, jumped and bounced from ride to ride.  Even convinced her daddy to join in.  Of course it doesn't take much.

It was a perfect ending to a pretty perfect weekend.

She Gets It Honest

It is a known fact I'm not the most graceful, coordinated person at times.  I've been know to run into walls/door facing/signs in the middle of stores or trip over my own feet or nothing at all.  This coordination stems from my mom who has been known to run into glass doors.  So Cecilia had very little hope of gracefulness/coordination.

Exhibit A.

Cecilia's class was outside playing yesterday when I went to pick her up.  As I rounded the corner, I could see her teacher holding her as she was screaming her head off.  The teacher explains that Cecilia was running after a ball, tripped and fell.  At this point there were no signs of major damage.  However, after a few hours, a knot popped up, above her eye turned black and blue and the marks you see above started showing.  Nice.

The only thing Brent could say was, 'she is just like her mother.'

The Weekend

We spent the weekend at Brent's parent's which means we had a 4 hour drive there and back with a child who HATES her car seat.  We can typically get a good hour out of her but the other 3 are horrible.  No amount of movies or toys are satisfy her.  However, this trip we found the magic toy...my makeup bag.

Cecilia went to town on making herself all pretty for the trip.

She always applies a brown eyeshadow around her mouth and jaw area which makes her look like she has a beard.

At one point the makeup brush just wasn't working well enough so she started rubbing the compact right on her face.

Needing to blend everything.

She had a big time playing and the makeup bag will ALWAYS be handy on long trips!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cecilia was digging the big pond in the front of Brent's parent's neighborhood all weekend.
We made several trips to the pond to look for the geese that usually hang out here.
We finally saw 2 on our last trip.
We had a nice visit with the family and the weather was so gorgeous!  It felt like fall and I really wish it would stay like that.  I'm ready for long sleeves and cool weather.
Test Shots
My dad and I are working on getting a photo shoot together for Cecilia's 2 year old pictures.  Yeah, we are a tad behind but when the whether was cooler we didn't seem to have the time and now we are waiting for it to cool back down.  But that hasn't stopped us from getting a few test shots in to see what we would like.  These were taken in my parent's backyard.
Love!
Not in the mood.
I'm about done you guys.
Seriously...BORED!!!!
I jumped in a few at the end...
I can't wait until we can FINALLY take them.
