Monday Ramblings

This weather has been absolutely amazing!  I'm loving not sweating buckets as soon as I walk outside.  And it has allowed me to continue to sit in my car at lunch.

To some it is a tad odd eating lunch in the car but for me, it gives me 30 minutes of peace away from coworkers and it allows me to thaw out from being so cold in the office.  Seriously, it is a mini getaway some days.

Brent and I got an unexpected date night last Tuesday night.  Nothing fancy, just enjoyed two of our favorites.

Yes we went to the froyo place AGAIN.  It wasn't even in our original plan but Brent was needing some dessert and I was not going to deny him.  :)

C wore this shirt the other day to school.  When I picked her up, the first thing she told me was that she needed a brave shirt.  I nodded not having clue as to what she was talking about until she pointed at her shirt and said 'I need a brave shirt, Mama.'  It clicked that she was talking about a Braves shirt.  Apparently one of her teachers is a Braves fan and told her that.  This did not tickle Brent.  However, it thrilled my brother (huge Braves fan) and he noted that she was getting a good education.  :)

This is how our Sunday afternoon started...

Of course it was all fun and games until Daddy threw one too many at C's feet then it was all tears and drama.

I'm hanging with this chic today.

We are a little under the weather and we had a rough night last night so we are heading to the doctor later to see what's going on.

Open for Business

Last night I did one of the scariest, most exciting things I've done in a while.  I set up as a vendor at the Duncan Hines Festival here in town.

For several years I've wanted to turn my hobby into a business and I finally took a step towards that dream.

I've spent the last 2 months prepping for the festival and could not have done any of it without my amazing support team, Brent, my mom and dad.  Since most of my spare time was spent working on projects, Brent picked up the slack around the house, entertained C when I needed just a few minutes and helped with everything last night.  My parent's took C when I needed a weekend to wrap everything up and was a huge help last night keeping an eye on C and helping with the breakdown.  It was a long night and I was so lucky to have all 3 stick by me all night long.

I've kept this little adventure quiet for a while because its scary to put yourself out there and heartbreaking if you fail.  But I was tired of saying one day and wondering what if.  So it's official, I've started up Poppy Lane and I'm really excited to see where this will take me!

4th of July and Then Some

This is the fist year I can remember our Fourth of July being a complete washout.  We spent most of the day laying around and getting this prepared for that evening.

C was feelin' the holiday and gave us a mini parade.

We weren't doing much that night.  I had invited my parents and my Nanny over for dinner.  We never really do much when it is during the week because some of us (me) had to work the next day.

Even though our crowd was small, I still wanted to decorate a little.  C helped make these cute napkins.

In between rain showers, we were able to shoot off what little fireworks we got.  The noise bothers C a lot so she wasn't much into it.  She stayed in some one's arm the entire night with her ears covered.  The only thing she likes is the things you throw on the ground that pop.  My Nanny also thoroughly enjoys them too.

Despite all the rain we had a really good time and I'm convinced my Nanny had the best time of us all.

Currently my favorite picture because my Nanny NEVER smiles in pictures.

Saturday night, a group of us went to Nashville to celebrate us girls turning 30 this year.

We ate at Rock Bottom then hit Broadway for some live music.  One of my favorite things is listening to a really good band and people watching.  And in Nashville you will see all kinds!

Sunday, the sun FINALLY decided it would make an appearance so we hit up a local park to feed the ducks and play.

C had had so much fun the past 4 days that she managed to pass out early last night and slept 11 hours in her own bed!  Sadly, I didn't get the same rest because our dog is a freak show and decided 5:15am was an appropriate time to bounce on my head.  Of course I thought I was playing it off well until a coworker told she could tell in my eyes I wasn't feeling well.  Umm no.  It's called lack of sleep for the past 3 years and my body refusing to go back to pre-kid sleeping mode.

Loving It!

The other night I broke out my Silhouette Cameo to try a new project.  I got some heat transfer material and I was dying to test it out.

I had Brent pick up a couple of shirts at the store and then I got busy.  I decided to start small and easy and nothing is easier than a monogram.

I am VERY happy with the result!

I had a little trouble ironing it on but other than that, it was super easy.  I already have a thousand ideas running through my head.  Now I just need to get more colors.

Movies, Pool & Rosie

Friday night, I got to mark off an item on our Summer Bucket List- going to the drive-in.

It amazes me that I have lived the majority of my life in a town with a drive-in but only went a handful of times.  I always enjoyed it and I was glad that C loved it.  She did bounce around the car a lot but still enjoyed the movie and managed to cry the WHOLE way home because she wanted to stay.  I've promised several times that we would be back.

Sunday after church, C and I headed back to Franklin so we could go swimming at my aunt and uncle's.

It was a little chilly but that didn't stop us from having some fun and getting C used to the water.  For some reason, I have this fear that she is going to have a fear water if she isn't in it enough.  Crazy I know but that's how I think.  Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case and I do believe we will be making a few more trips to the pool.

To end our trip, my friend's brother has a calf that he is having to bottle feed.  His farm isn't far from my aunt and uncle's so we made a little trip to see Rosie.

It is extremely odd to call a calf pretty but she is.  And precious.  C has a small obsession with cows and she thought it was pretty cool to see one her size.

We just so happened to go at a perfect time too.

C LOVED it!

Of all the things she is a little timid of, cows is not one of them.  My Poppy would be so proud of her.

Our weekend was just the beginning of all the fun stuff we have planned for this week.
