I'll Survive. I think. I hope.

It has been a rough week at the Miller household with hormones and emotions running high.  I think C is going through puberty 10 years too early.  She cries over everything, refuses to listen which leads to getting in trouble which leads to epic meltdowns.  She and I have gone head to head all week long over everything which explains why I've had a headache for 3 days.  My eye twitches just reflecting on our week.

The weekend is near which usually means we can all reset and hopefully get back to our normal personalities.  If not, you can find me in the psych ward at the hospital.

Here are pictures of our last 2 dress up days.

Crazy outfit day.

Crazy hair day.

Can you see my grip on her arm?  When I asked her to sit still, she looked me dead in the eye and started bouncing around then laid down.

She is rocking braids on the sides and ponytails on the top and in the back.  That is about a creative as I could get this morning with her moving around like she had ants in her pants.

Not Much

Brent's parents came down for a visit over the weekend.  We try to keep things as low key as possible so they get plenty of play time with C and we really stuck to that this trip!  We pretty much stayed at the house playing all weekend only venturing out to eat and of course to get frozen yogurt!

C loves having her people in one place and is thrilled about our big family vacation coming up.

Sunday night we I was itching to get outside so we took a little walk.

C loves being outside playing and going for walks!  We are both ready for warmer weather.

Thanks to an early bedtime for C, I managed to crank out a new sign.

Not sure why I have an obsession with signs but I could cover my whole house in them.  Now I just have to figure out where I'm going to hang it.

This week at school, they are celebrating Dr. Seuss.  Pretty sure his birthday is this week or something of that nature.  School always makes it a fun week for the kids with dress up days and fun activities.  Today was crazy sock day.

She thought it was the greatest thing.

I love the dress up days but they stress me out trying to come up with crazy outfits/hair. I typically like a good weeks heads up so I can stress out even longer but get a good game plan together.

Sadly, the dress up days are about as exciting as we are getting this week.

It Was the BIG One

Yesterday was a big birthday for me.  I turned 30.  No, I didn't spend the day in bed crying because I'm no longer in my twenties.  Age doesn't bother and I would say that's because it has never bothered my parents.  We just get better with age, right Dad?  :)

I started my day with a voicemail from my mom singing her remix of the Happy Birthday song.  She does this every year to all of us and it is always fun to see what she has come up with.  You NEVER know what she is going to do or say.

At work, my dad stopped by to wish me a Happy Birthday and to drop off my gift from my parents.  My friend Jennifer got me some of my favorite cookies from a local bakery.

They are ridiculous and I ate a handful before 8:30am! I accidentally got C hooked on them and it was the first thing she asked for this morning.

The 3 of us went out for dinner and I spent the entire dinner shoving food in my face.  We came home and I was surprised with a gift from my brother and sister-in-law, a gift card to Mellow Mushroom.

And Brent was sweet enough to hit up GiGi's Cupcakes earlier in the day.

I went with a non chocolate one.  Later I wished I had but I made a good decision because a friend of mine met me on the way to work this morning to give me this...

We used to work together so I've had the cake a time or two and it is out of this world!

Even though I have probably gained 30 pounds, I had a fabulous day!  C even sang Happy Birthday to me on our way home yesterday.  It was the sweetest thing ever!

Celebrations

Time to play catch up on the past few days.

Valentine's Day was everything I had expected...a fabulous day spent with my 2 loves.  C was excited all day and kept saying "Happy Valentine's Day!"

We did the whole fondue thing for dinner and it was a big hit!  We ended the night eating lots of chocolate and laying on the couch too full to move.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weekend we kicked off my birthday week!  Saturday, Brent and I had plans to spend the day in Nashville while C went to my parent's.  She was beyond excited to get away from us.
Brent wanted to make sure I fit in down in Nashville so he surprised me with these beauties...
I've been wanting some cowboy boots for awhile and B remembered!  I'm in LOVE with them and they are actually pretty comfortable.  He did good!
Our first stop of the day was Antique Archaeology.  We are huge American Pickers fans so we thought it would be fun to go to their store down in Nashville and pick up a few things.
Oh how disappointed we were when we walked in.  The place was super small, there was a moving line around the store (similar to a museum) and there weren't many small items to buy.  It was more of a tourist location than a shop.  We were there maybe 10 minutes.  Complete bust.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at an outlet mall before heading to dinner.
This is where dinner plan A and B failed because clearly it has been too long since he and I have been downtown Nashville on a Saturday at 5pm.  But we didn't let that stop us from having a good time.
We laughed that we shouldn't expect anything different because anytime we try to plan something out, it never goes right.  Oh well, at least we had fun despite all the fails.
Yesterday, my mom and I went to the movies to see Safe Haven.  We have both read the book and like always the movie wasn't like the book.  The movie was good but I think I'm going to have to start watching the movie first because the book is always better and I get ticked when they change so much.
After the movie, we met Brent, C and my dad for dinner and a little frozen yogurt.  I mean no celebration is complete without it!
As you can see, someone is a little tired and cranky.
All in all, it was a great weekend and a great way to start my birthday week.  I told Brent I expected surprises everyday!  ;)
She Digs It
We have been gearing up all week for tomorrow.  She knows that hearts mean Valentine's Day and she is excited.  All school and home projects have been about Valentine's Day.
We've made a special card for Daddy.
Her Valentine's Day box is complete.
School Valentine's Day treats are done.
Anytime I'm working on anything, she comes running screaming, 'I'm gonna help.  Let me do it!'
The cheap little Valentine's "mailbox" has been the biggest hit.  We check it every morning and her eyes get bigger with each new note.
I'm not sure this ritual will get to end after Valentine's Day but I can't blame her.  What girl doesn't love fun little notes?
What I'm Lovin'
Tent time.
After dinner snack and chat time.
  An extra set of hands helping make her Valentine's box.
Outside play even if it was only for a few minutes.
Her need to take a picture when the camera is around.
A start to a new week with promises of lots of fun and love.
Valentine's Day Box
When Cecilia and I were scoping out the dollar bins at Target the other day, I saw this cute little Valentine paper box that you could color and use as your Valentine box for school or whatever.  I grabbed one thinking C would have fun coloring and it would give us something to do over the weekend.  I thought wrong.
She had no interest in it what so ever.  It was just sitting in our craft room begging to be colored.  Being a HUGE fan of coloring, regardless of my age, I grabbed the markers last night and got busy.
My plan is to leave her a little note in the box each day leading up to Valentine's Day.
She was super excited this morning to find her first little note.
It made her morning!
She ran to Brent to show him what she got then ran back to me to show me what Mo had given her.  That's right, Mo.  He apparently gave her the box AND wrote her a note!  I spent more time than I care to mention coloring the box, wrote a sweet little note and who gets all the glory?  MO!!!!
Story of my life.
Weekend Recap
Last week was bananas for me at work!  I volunteered to cover my boss while he was in and out of the office all of last week.  I will think twice before I do that again!  I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off from time I got there to the time I left.  Most nights I came home unable to think or move.  Whew!  I'm glad last week is over and I survived without killing any of my co-workers.
We ended the week very low key.  Friday night, I had some Target shopping to do.  I scored on a few goodies but I think C made out the best.
Her daddy is a bigger sucker than I am.  C just had to have a Magna Doddle and Brent was more than willing to say yes because 'we never buy her anything.'  Yes she is a very deprived little girl with a room full of toys.
Saturday we didn't do much of anything.
Sunday, I helped host a baby shower for Alicia.  Baby Eli is about a month out from being here so we showered her with lots of love.
Rolo cupcakes.  These things were ridiculous!
During the party, we were each given a card to write down things we wish for Eli as he grows.  That was the hardest part of the whole shower!  The cards were cute and something that Alicia and Eli can look back at through the years.
Eli's nursery is safari themed and Alicia had mentioned that she would love to get a big stuffed giraffe for the room.
Wish granted!
We've had this thing at our house for about a month and C has loved it and it has scared me more times that I care to mention.  I was smart enough to tell her from the beginning that this was baby Eli's so we wouldn't have a meltdown when it disappeared.
Hostess with the mama to be.
I was a complete failure at getting a picture at the food table.  Not sure where my head was but clearly not where it needed to be.
We all agreed that the shower was a success and Alicia walked away with lots of fun goodies and advice. :)
Sunday was a big day for me and my family.  Our beloved Niners were in the Super Bowl.  To say I was a little nervous is an understatement.  I was on edge the entire game!  I was so glad my parents asked to keep C because she did not need to see me like that.  I was also glad we didn't have any guests coming over to watch with us.  No one needs to witness me actin' a fool.  I sent my brother a text before the first quarter ever ended telling him I was going to have a heart attack.  He told me to chill.  Chill I did not.
Brent was even a little shocked at my behavior.   Even though I was disappointed they didn't win, the best team won.  I'm just glad football season is over so my nerves can take a break.
