For Spring Break, we did a good ole fashion staycation. Our only goal for the week was to sleep in as much as possible. You know who made sure we didn't reach that goal? The kids we can NEVER wake up before 6:00am during the school week. Sigh.
Since we were up bright and early on day one of staycation, I put them to work cleaning the house.
We laid around for the rest of the day until it was time to head to the airport to pick up this cute little dude.
And his mama too of course. We were so excited it worked out that they could spend spring break with us.
C and I loved getting our snuggle time in with Jack.
We didn't do much the first two days they were here but on Tuesday we made plans to visit Kentucky Down Under.
I don't remember going as a kid but it is the best place for kids! They had a bird exhibit where you could walk in and let birds land on you. Somehow, Leslie and I ended up in the cage with the birds and we were swarmed as soon as we walked in! It was such a weird feeling having a bird chill on your head. Our favorite, though, was the kangaroo exhibit where we got to walk right up to them to feed and pet them. U got confused and thought the cup of carrots were for him! Ha! I couldn't believe they would just lay there while rubbed on them. It was crazy.
We ended up running into one of C's besties, Avery, while we were there.
We all took the cave tour together.
Before we left, C got to pan for rocks.
Strangely enough, she loved it!
She's pulled her bag of rocks out several times to look at them. Super cool experience.
On Wednesday, we all had haircuts. This was U's very first haircut and he did great!
C got her first major haircut as well.
She has talked about cutting it all off several times before but backed out every time we got there. This time she meant business.
She is so happy with her new do!
We spent the rest of the afternoon at the park playing and throwing rocks in the creek.
Wednesday night, was our last night with The Dude so we soak up as much of him as we could.
Thursday, after dropping Jack and Leslie off at the airport, we headed to the Nashville Public Library. It's no secret we love libraries and this one might just be our favorite.
I mean seriously! It was so fun and we plan on going back!
Friday, C had a play date with one of her old daycare buddies Peyton.
After playing at the house for awhile, we had lunch at Chick-fil-a, played at two different parks and THEN went to Peyton's house for a cookout! It was a full day and both the girls were worn out by then end of it.
To soaked up our last few hours of spring break, we went to a Hot Rods game.
I was surprised at how well both of the kids did. C was the one who requested we go (shocking I know!) and she loved being at the game. Bubs was just happy to have food.
It was a great week and the struggle was REAL Monday morning trying to get everyone up and going for work/school. I think C growled at me. :)
