Well like any holiday/birthday, we celebrated Mother's Day all weekend long.
Saturday, my mom, Nanny, C and I went to lunch at Five Chef's down in Portland, TN.
I love going because they have such good food and AMAZING desserts. Plus there is a cute little shop attached to the restaurant that makes you spend WAY too much of your allowance money! :)
This was C's first time to Five Chef's and it was a big hit! Especially since her meal came with a giant chocolate chip cookie.
I tried to get a few cute pictures before we left but clearly my subject was not in the mood...
After lunch, we went back to my mom's house to get my car. C asked where we were going next and I told her home to see Daddy. I could barely get the word home out before she busted into tears and cried that she didn't want to go home. My parents felt so sorry for her that they offered to bring her up later when they came to Bowling Green.
What they failed to tell me was they were going to ruin going to the mall forever.
Yeah they let her ride the train AND carousel. No wonder she hates coming home with me.
Sunday started off like any other Sunday morning for us, fights over getting dressed, tantrums thrown, raised voices and time out. By the time we got to church my nerves were shot. But here is the great thing about our pastor, he knows just what to say and when to say it. He opened with the most beautiful prayer just for us mamas. By the time he was done, we were all sniffling and makeup ruined. Turned the whole day around.
After church, Brent and C took me to lunch.
My one request for Mother's Day was for Brent to take C shopping and for HER to pick something out for me. He wasn't so sure of this plan and asked me several times if that's really what I wanted. He knew that I could walk away with a "wormie" or a bag of Smarties but as long as she thought it was something I would like, I didn't care.
I think she did great with her final choice and it has quickly became the best gift I've ever gotten.
She was so excited to give me the bird feeder and we loved watching for birds all day.
It was one of the last things she talked about before going to bed.
And since it was a nice windy day, we took C's kite out for a little spin.
Daddy struggled to get the kite up so an expert had to step in.
She loved it for all of 2 seconds.
Later, Brent cooked dinner for me and cleaned up afterwards. Score!
Even though my day started off rough, it ended with me snuggled up to C listening to her tell me about our day and how her favorite part was playing with me and Brent. Doesn't get much better than that.
