1 Month

I'm not sure how we've already gotten here but Uryah is already a month old.

He is growing at a rapid rate and has lost all of his newborn look.  He is 10 plus pounds and around 21.5" long.  He wears size 3 month clothing and size 1 diaper.  He eats every 3 hours but we can usually extend that during the night to 4 hours so we are getting a little bit of sleep.

Speaking of sleep, both my children are belly sleepers which is fine except during that time of their lives where you can't let them sleep on their bellies.   So a lot of my time is spent like this...

I usually have to lay like this for an hour then I can lay him down and he stays asleep.

He is starting to spend some time awake which C loves.

She loves playing and talking to him.  The first thing out of her mouth every day when I pick her up is, 'can I hold him when we get home?'  She is every bit as in love with him as she was from day 1.  The only thing that bothers her is his crying spells.  She says it hurts her ears and gets on her nerves.  I like to remind her that's how her daddy and I feel when she throws her little fits.

We still aren't sure who he looks like.  For some reason I feel like he favors my mom's side of the family but I'm not 100% sure.  I have some digging to do before I can stand firm on that.

That's really it for now.  I'm completely enjoying my maternity leave.  C is only going to school half days while I'm off and I'm loving every minute we have together.  Ok maybe not the minutes where she is screaming her head off because she isn't getting her way but all the other times are great.  :)  I'm amazed at how fast the time is going by and I would be lying if I said it will be nice to go back to work.  I'm REALLY enjoying myself but that's not my reality.  I've already told my boss I'm going to get medicated before I come back.  Joking...kind of.

The Name Game

It is no secret that Brent and I struggled finding a name perfect for our little guy.  We couldn't agree on anything and by October, I was completely frustrated and informed Brent it was his responsibility to find a name for our baby.

He spent the next few weeks sending texts with suggestions .  There were a few that made the short list but nothing that wowed me.  Then one Sunday we were sitting in church and the sermon was on King David and Bathsheba.  A story I know well but what I never remembered was Bathsheba's husband's name, Uriah.  We get to Sunday School and Brent leans over and says he likes that name.  He had heard it before because there are two MMA fighters with that name and he thought it would be a good unique name.  I'm sold!  Sadly, even though he came up with the name, he wasn't 100% sold.  Argh!

We started referring to the baby as Uriah and it really started to grow on me.  Brent still had his doubts and didn't want to fully commit.  Well, by mid November, I told him that was the name I was using.  I was tired of going back and forth.  He finally decided it was a good solid name and that he was good with it.

I decided to change up the spelling of the name because of the middle name we already had.  Bayles comes from my Nanny's maiden name.  I was named after my great grandfather's nickname, Casey, and I had decided many years ago that I wanted to use Bayles if I ever had a boy.  Since the 3rd letter in Bayles is "Y", I decided to change the "I" in Uriah to a "Y."  I just liked the way it looked when it was all spelled out.

We do get asked a lot what nickname we will give him.  I guess since everyone knows we have a nickname for C (Gee), they assume we will have one for Uryah.  C's nickname just happened so I have no idea if Uryah will have one.  UB has been mentioned several times by several different people but who knows if it will stick.  We will just have to see.

2 Weeks In

We've adjusted to life as a family of 4 very nicely.

Uryah is a pretty easy baby only crying when he is wet or hungry and most of the time I have to wake him up to eat.

Everyone keeps asking us who he looks like and we still don't have a clue!  B says he looks like me but I don't really see it.  He doesn't really look like C either but they do have the same nose.  We will just have to see who he favors as he gets older.

And speaking of C, she is taking her big sister role very seriously.

She always needs to hold him, touch him and wants him around all the time.  Only twice has she pulled the you like him better card but its typically when she is acting a fool and we have to get onto her.  She gets over it quickly though.  Thankfully.  ;)

It feels like he has been in our lives longer than 2 weeks and we are so excited for weeks and months ahead!

Uryah Bayles

We are excited that as of December 31st at 11:13 am, we became a family of 4!

Uryah Bayles arrived weighing in at 9.2lbs and 20.5" long.

We have all fallen head over heels and can't get enough.

Especially his sister.

She wasn't joking about wanting to hold him ALL day.  :)

We are settling into our new life and couldn't be happier!

Christmas 2014

I took off the week of Christmas to spend some time with C and to try to lower my stress level.  :)  We'd been so afraid that the baby would come right in the middle of Christmas and we would have to spend Christmas in the hospital.  Thankfully, that did not happen.

C and I spent our time crafting...

 making pizza..

and running errands trying to wrap up a few things before our Christmas festivities started.

To kick off those festivities, we spent Christmas Eve at my parent's having dinner and opening presents with my parents, brother and sister in law.  C racked up and was excited about everything she got.

My sister in law scored big by making her this Hello Kitty blanket.  C started using it immediately and it hasn't left her side since.

After we left my parent's, we went to our church's midnight Christmas service.  It is by far our favorite tradition.

Christmas morning, the 3 of us opened presents and played with all our new toys before my family arrived to have brunch.

My brother and sister in law got C her first sewing machine and C was dying for Aunt Leslie to show her how it worked.

Christmas night we went to my Nanny's to celebrate with my mom's side of the family.

Cute little story.  Right after C opened her last gift, she looked around and said, 'when is my brother going to come?'  I've been telling her that the baby would come after Christmas to give her a timeline every time she asked how much longer.  Guess she took it literally.  :)

We ended the week with a little main/pedi with my mom and sister in law.

C said she wanted to go there every day.  #raisingadiva

Our last Christmas celebration was at my Granny's on the Sunday after Christmas with my dad's family.

Can you tell C is a little smitten with her Aunt Leslie?

With Christmas 2014 in the books, we were all dying for Baby Miller to make his appearance and very anxious to know when that would be.
