Summer Wrap Up

Here is a big ole post on how we spent our summer.

We spent almost every weekend in June in the pool.

It was too hot to do anything else but too pretty to stay inside so we set up a little redneck water park with a water table, water guns, a pool and water balloons.

At the end of the month, Brent's parents came down with our niece, Aubrey, to spend a few days with C while I went out of town on business.  C had the time of her life and loved having Aubrey here.

On the night I got back, my MIL and I took girls to play blackout mini golf.

They were so cute encouraging one another and giving each other pointers.

One Friday night, I took the kids down to Franklin's square for their Friday night concert.  C has loved going to the concerts for several years and this was U's first experience.

The band wasn't our cup of tea but the ice cream was!

The kids and I met Alicia and Eli at Chaney's Dairy Barn one night.  The kids played and had ice cream while Alicia and I caught up on life.

We laid super low for the 4th of July.

We took the kids to Dinosaur World that morning which was a blast!  They played in a big sand pit, C got to sift for gemstones and dig for bones while we were there.

Since we were so close, we took C to see Wigwam Village.

My grandparent's spent their honeymoon there, I've spent a night there (and lived to tell about it!) and my parent's have stayed there too!

C was less than impressed but for some reason, that place fascinates me.  I don't know if it's because they look like tee-pee's or if it's because it was my first night away where I literally thought I would come back home with a deadly disease.

Anyway, if I'm ever close, I always want to stop by.

Right after the 4th, my parent's took me and the kids to Atlanta to meet my brother and his family.  It had been a few months since we saw them and we were DYING to see Jack.

While in Atlanta, we played at a digital playground which was by far the BEST twenty dollars I've ever spent.  It was crazy cool and the kids went wild!

My favorite part was where they colored a fish or sea creature, had it scanned and then it popped up on the wall swimming around!  C loved seeing her fish swim around on the wall!

(C's fish swimming around)

Sadly, it's not a permanent business but I'm glad we got to experience it.

And of course we had to make a trip to the aquarium.

The place was packed but we were still able to enjoy all the sights and shows.

My brother came with us and C never left his side.  Those two did everything together.

Love this picture of C and U.

Our last hooray before we had to leave, was an indoor playground.

I need one of these places to come to BG because it was amazing!  They had all kinds of things for kids to do of all ages.  U ran around like a mad man and C spent her time trying out everything.

It was a fun filled weekend but we were all about done.  My dad made the comment he remembered why he and my mom never took my brother and me anywhere when we were little...it causes you to go CRAZY!  I earned ten new grey hairs.  Whew!

One Saturday night, we went to the Konow's to hang out and let the kids run wild in their backyard.  It's a blessing all our kids get along so well.

The kids cooled off one night at the splash pad in town.  Neither of them have ever been and they went crazy!  U didn't know what to think and kept running around in circles.

We ended the summer with birthday celebrations.  First, we celebrated my mom's birthday with a pizza party at her house.  I took C to pick out a cake and the minute she saw this chocolate one she said, 'that's the cake!  Momois will love all that chocolate.'  C knows her so well.

U approved too.

The next night, we celebrated my grandmother's 88th birthday at a new coffee shop in Franklin.  Our family pretty much took over the place but thankfully the owner, my cousin, is part of our wild group.

And because I wanted to end our summer with a bang, I took U's paci away.

He is a little older than C was when I took it away from her so I knew it was a perfect age.  However, unlike his sister, he didn't handle it very well.

B was out of town, which I had planned because there was no way I could handle two whiners, and I *think* I slept maybe 2 hours the first night and maybe 8 the whole weekend.  It was rough.  Not that it was a little rough with C but she at least slept once she got to sleep.  U didn't.  Of course it didn't help either that he was cutting two teeth either.

My poor parent's got a dose of it when B and I went away for the weekend to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.  :/  My dad only got a few hours of sleep the first night and I felt so bad.  They said it did better the second night.

Thankfully, our nights are much easier these days.

We spent the last few days of summer relaxing and preparing for school.  C was surprisingly ready to go back and start a new school year.

Whew!  Now, I'm almost caught up with life.  ;)
