Let's Give the Boy a Hand

I have been in complete awe this week over this marriage proposal I saw on the news.  Seriously, this guy put in some MAJOR time and effort.  I am all about big gestures so I am loving this!

Then a co-worker was telling us about a bridal party who danced their way down the aisle.

How cute!  I told Brent it made me want to get married again (to him of course).  He rolled his eyes.  Such a dud sometimes!

Our Weekend

Brent had to work the majority of the weekend so there was not a lot of excitement going on at our house.  Cecilia spent most of her weekend playing, watching movies and changing in and out of her swimsuit.

This was her at 4:30pm on Monday...

She woke up long enough to eat and watch a short movie then was back in bed until this morning.  Doing a whole lot of nothing can wear a girl out!

The Run Down

Friday was a free/work day for me.  There was a work related event going on in BG and my boss was nice enough to let me have a day out of the office to go.  The event...diesel drag races at a local drag strip!  Not really a place one would normally find me but I sometimes like to throw on my redneck boots and join the fun.

The funnier part was my company...

C's school was closed because of a funeral at the church so she got to go with me.  I found a spot where we could sit in the car and watch the races.  We had a blast!  C loves playing in the car with all the buttons, knobs and steering wheel so she was in heaven!  Couple that with tons of snacks and she could barely control herself!

Brent and I were supposed to go back that night with another couple but they ended up having to cancel the event because a couple of transformers blew.  Date night was over before it ever got started.

Saturday, was a nice and hot so we decided it was time to get Cecilia's water table out.

I forgot how much she loved that thing.

She played and giggled and carried on all afternoon.

Sunday, we had my cousin's high school graduation.

It was crazy to see him in his cap and gown walking the line.

Seriously, this was just yesterday right?

Hard pill to swallow when you remember him this small and then all of a sudden you have a grown man in front of you.

If I'm this sentimental about my cousin graduating, you can only imagine how I will be when C graduates.  I might need meds!

Mother's Day Weekend

We did Mother's Day up right this year by celebrating all weekend long.  Cecilia and I started Saturday off with a little mother/daughter breakfast (thanks to Brent for providing doughnuts) and watching Mickey.

That afternoon, my mom came up to go to a Mother/Daughter Tea.  They had a local author come and read to the little girls and talk about herself (which she did very well at!).

They also had these 11 year old girls there that apparently have a little side bakery to decorate a cupcake for each little one.  Look at Cecilia's...

Seriously 11 year olds?  They were really good too!
After tea, we met up with both my grandmothers for dinner.  We tried a new restaurant here in town and I was very pleased!  It's a place that I would love to go back to but definitely not somewhere I can take Brent.  He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy with no funny business on either.

And no dinner out is complete without a trip to Stakz!  My Granny (the one the left) had never been and her bowl was hilarious!  She seriously had like 2 bites in it!

Sunday, Brent had to work so after church Cecilia took a nap and I dug into my new book...

They showered me with a few more things and this card...

Brent let Cecilia pick it out and I was not surprised to see Mickey and Minnie.  She snatched it right out of my hands and declared it "mine!"
Cecilia brought this little bag home from school for Mother's Day..

She was so proud of what she did and every time she sees it she'll say "Paint.  CC did it."

My parents came up to play late afternoon and we ended up going to IHop for dinner when Brent got off.  We love eating breakfast for dinner.

Finally, my special day ended with snuggling up to this wild thing.

Gifts

This week has had my brain going bananas!  With it being Teacher Appreciation, I have been in major thinking mode on what to get Cecilia's teachers.  I sent them the little baskets other day but wanted to do something else plus I still needed to get the school cook something too.  Its difficult to know what they like and to get a gift that covers a big age range is hard (2 of the teachers are younger than me and the other is my mom's age).

I hit my favorite idea spot, Pinterest, to get some inspiration.  I saw several ideas people making pencil flower arrangements or other teacher related things but I wanted to give them something they could use either at school or their homes.  The hunt was on and after HOURS spent on Pinterest, I finally settled on the decorative initials.

I'm happy with the way they turned out and hope they like them and can use them.

And since I have never laid eyes on the lady who cooks, I grabbed a tumbler for her.  I love them and one can't ever have too many of them.

I am so very thankful for these women who take care of Cecilia when I can't.  They have been amazing to her and I couldn't ask for better teachers.  They brag and dote on her as if she were theirs.  I'm just sad she can't stay in that class forever.

Changing Things Up

I'm having a major decorating redo itch.  We've lived in our house 4 years and I'm still not satisfied with the way things look.  My main problem is trying to get Brent's approval on things.  I'll go shopping and see things but feel the need to check with Brent first.  Big mistake because even if he likes it, I get lazy and never go back.  It seems to work best for us when I bring a random item home that makes him raise his eyebrow and say 'what is that?'

With this redo itch, a shopping trip was a must.  Lucky for me, it was Brent's idea so we made a date out of it.  We left C behind and headed down to TN for a day of shopping.  I planned ahead and made a list of all the things we needed for each room.  I was pumped and ready to shop!

Hours later, I walked away with 1 item marked off my list of 25.  1 lonely item and it was a picture frame.  Depressing I know.  Good news is I bought a few things that weren't on the list that now has taken up space in my already junk filled closet!  AWESOME!

With my bags empty and my itch still not satisfied, I came home and started moving things around to different rooms.  I happy with what little progress I made but another shopping trip is on my agenda.

And even though shopping was a bust, we enjoyed the pretty weather outside and a few crafts.

Cecilia renewed her love of rocks and played with them ALL weekend.

We had a little horse race of our own on Saturday...
(Excuse the closed eyes.  She is her daddy's child.)

This week is Teacher Appreciation week so I put together a few gifts for Cecilia's teachers and the ladies in the office at school.  Brown Sugar body scrub I find here and lotion.

And lastly, not only did I move about 60% of the things in our house, I managed to make this sign along with starting at least 4 other craft projects.
Didn't consult the hubs and he loves it!

My freshly painted nails are now either chipped or covered in spray paint.  That can only mean it was a good DIY/redo weekend!
