The Nursery

We finally got the nursery done or at least as done as it's going to get at this point.  I have a few things to add/tweak but we are calling it good.

I wanted a vintage feel to the room because well, I love old junk and my hubs wanted a baseball themed room.  I tried to incorporate both our wants and think I did a pretty good job.  He says it could use a few more baseball items and tries to sneak a few in but I think he is pretty happy with the results as they are.

So with all that said, here is the nursery.

This is the view from the doorway.

If you look to your left at the door, this is what you will see.

The dresser is my great grandfather's and even though it has seen better days, I love having a family piece in the room.

I got the pegboard idea off Pinterest and it turned out just as I had hoped.

The baskets are my favorite part for some reason.

I found this little cradle last year at a consignment store.  At the time I had no use for it but knew I couldn't pass it up.  It just so happened to fit the room perfect and works great as book storage.

So I have two Doubting Thomas' in my family who LOVE to try and second guess my crazy ideas.  B and my dad have a hard time just going along with any of my ideas without having several conversations about how it needs to be done.  Thankfully, they know it is easier to just go along with my idea than try to change my mind.  I say all that because the barn wood above the crib was one of those ideas.  They both thought I was nuts and B wasn't too convinced it would look good.  Well, after it was all said and done, both of them liked it and I LOVE how it turned out.

This little corner is one that is not completely done but I'm ok with that.

I'm so happy the way the nursery turned out!  I think I even impressed B because he normally doesn't say anything when I decorate but he has commented a few times that I did a good job.  Give myself a pat on the back.  ;)

Holiday at Cheekwood

Saturday, we ventured down to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville for their Christmas event.  We've never been but it sounded like fun and it did not disappoint!

The first thing we saw was the train exhibit.

C flipped when she saw it was a Thomas train.  She was naming all the chuggers and running around watching every turn it made.  It was a pretty neat little set up.

The next stop was our main event, the live reindeer.

Somehow I got it in my head that you could feed them so C was super excited but that was not the case.  Thankfully, she didn't have a meltdown and watching them was just fine for her.

Inside one of the buildings, they had 2 different craft activities plus cookie decorating.  Naturally, my child LOVED the craft portion.

Making her Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

The cookie decorating wasn't all bad either especially since you got to eat it right away.

C was even nice enough to share a bite with me, my mom and B.

And on our way out, we had to watch Thomas the train one more time.

Cheekwood did a very nice job putting this event on and we will definitely be back.

36 Weeks

This picture doesn't even do my belly justice.

C was my photographer and she must have been at a weird angle because I'm at least 10 times larger in person.

Since my last update, we have almost finished the nursery.  I have 1 last thing to hang on the wall but that requires a little muscle so I had to wait until B came home.  All clothes and blankets are washed and organized.  All necessary baby items have been cleaned and are ready to use.   And if you haven't seen me in person in the last month, I am D.O.N.E with this pregnancy.  I've had as much fun as I can stand and my body is screaming to get this baby out!  I remember feeling this way a week before having C but this time around it has hit harder and earlier.  Some precious people are kind enough to remind me that I'm a little older this time around.  Such sweet kind words.  It's almost as precious as when I get asked if I'm having twins.

As far as baby growth, our little booger is still growing at a rapid pace.  I've had several ultrasounds monitoring his growth and he doesn't seem to be slowing down at all!  I break out into a sweat at every ultrasound, bracing myself to hear how much he has gained.  Currently he is estimating about 7 pounds which means lately he is gaining a pound a week.  So if you want to do quick math, if I go full term I will be delivering a toddler.  Even the ultrasound tech commented last week on his very round belly.  Eek.  I'm so hoping these little estimates are at least 2 pounds off.

And speaking of ultrasounds, this last one was by far the coolest one I've had.  And of course, neither B or C were there.  Normally the baby does nothing cool and keeps his hand in his face but this time he decided to show off.  I watched him stick his tongue in and out and him practice his breathing.  I was dying!  It was so clear and it was crazy that I was watching something happen inside me.  Blown away.

In other great news.  I got an early Christmas present...

If you don't know what this is, it is a blood sugar testing kit. I had to take my glucose test again yesterday and I failed.  It was just the news I wanted to hear especially when I was hoping deep down she would tell me to head on over to the hospital.  I had my bags in the back of my car that's how bad I wanted it.

I understand it could be A LOT worse but I had a small meltdown over it.  Having to prick your finger 4 times a day AND go on a special diet on top of being super miserable was not how I wanted to spend these last few weeks of my pregnancy.  But I am at the very end so I'm lucky that I haven't had to do this the whole time.  It was just a hard pill to swallow yesterday when I was so ready for everything to be over.

I plan on doing some MAJOR walking over the weekend right after I wrap up my Christmas shopping.  As bad as I do want Baby Miller here, I have a few unfinished items that need to get done before his arrival.

Weekend Recap

So we played a little game called, let's see how many activities we can cram into 4 days.

We started Wednesday night with C's daycare Christmas program.

She was cast as an angel and she was so proud of her part.  I'm not sure how many times we sang Hark the Hearld but girlfriend knew her lines.

The play is the same every year and every year, I've gotten emotional knowing we were 1 year closer to her being in the big kid group.  I held it together for the most part but poor C had an epic meltdown right after it was over because she didn't want to leave school.  We think she knows this was her last play and that she will be heading to school next year.  Even though she is really excited about Kindergarten, she has been at this daycare for almost 5 years and she will no longer be with the friends she has had all this time.  That's a rough reality for a little one.  I'm hoping her and I can keep it together the rest of the year.

On Thursday, B left for Mexico for his brother's wedding.  And while he was enjoying this view for 5 days...

C and I had our own little vacation.

Friday, we slept in and laid around watching Christmas movies most of the morning. Around lunch, we got dressed and headed out to Chic-fil-a (guess whose choice that was) and then went to see a movie.

After the movie, we ran a few errands, then loaded up the car to head to Franklin where we were going to spend the next few days.  Since B was out of town, I needed extra hands to entertain C and just in case I went into labor, I had people close.

Friday night, we went to see The Nutcracker at the library in Franklin.  C loved all the dancers and told me she wanted to dance like that when she got older.  Kind of funny since she complains about going to dance EVERY week but I think its because she doesn't like the practicing part.  She only likes "being on the big stage" part.

Saturday, we met up with a few of my friends and their kids for Franklin's Small Town Christmas.  I would love to say we had a blast and that it was the magical time I dreamed of but it was a complete bust.  Let's just say this 36 week pregnant woman about went off on a few people.

We did get to enjoy craft time so C was happy about that.

She enjoyed the parade too and thank goodness this was her first parade or she would have been disappointed at that too.

C and JP enjoying the marching band

After the parade, C and I did a quick change and went to a baby shower for my friend Emily.  She is expecting Amelia in February and we are so excited!  After seeing all the cute girl clothes and bows, C leaned over and told me that the next time we open baby gifts, Daddy will stay home with "the brother" and her and I will open presents for "the sister."  AKA she still wants a sister and is assuming her daddy and I can just magically make that happen.  Her biggest hurdle is getting her daddy on the 3 baby train.

Later that afternoon, C and I spent some time at my Nanny's house.  I had a few sewing projects and C wanted to play with Nanny.  While I was busy sewing, they blared Christmas music and had a dance off.  I think they laughed for 2 solid hours.  I was sure C would fall asleep on the way back to my parent's but as soon as we got there she begged to go to a Christmas party with my mom.  Totally fine with me because my big ole pregnant butt got cozy and watched a It's A Wonderful Life and enjoyed 3 hours to myself.

Sunday after church, I continued to be lazy and laid around my parent's house until it was time for C and I to head home but not before I had a little fun photo shoot.

I combined 2 ideas I saw on Pinterest and came up with these little beauties...

Hey at this point in the game, I've got to have some kind of fun with my huge belly.
