FIVE

Five years ago, this day seemed like a lifetime away.  As I held my tiny newborn, her 5th birthday was the furthest thing from my mind.  I mean it was FIVE years down the road but sadly those five years passed so fast, my head is still trying to catch up with reality.

I'm not sure why 5 seems like 18 to me but I've been a basket case over Cecilia turning 5 for a while now.  I think it has a lot to do with the fact turning five means you get to start school and to me, that's the beginning of becoming independent and no longer needing your mama as much.

Thursday as we were driving home, we were talking about her birthday the next day and she told me she was just sooo excited.  She then looked at me and asked, "Mama, aren't you just sooo excited for my birthday?"  There was no way I was going to let her know my heart was breaking so I put on my best happy face and told her I was so excited and couldn't wait for the next day.

And as the next day rolled around faster than I would have liked, we celebrated from moment we woke up til the moment we went to bed.

C woke up to balloons everywhere and her big birthday sign up.

She was so funny about her balloons.  I've done this a few times and I was debating on whether or not to do it this year but she had told Brent right before bed that she would love to have balloons all over like we did last time.  Well he decides to tell me this as I'm crawling into bed so I quickly got up and blew up some balloons and threw them all over the floor.  She woke up so shocked and excited the next morning. She looked at me and said. "Mama, how did you know I wanted balloons?  I told Daddy I wanted balloons but how did you know?  I'm just so excited!"  Day made.

She got to open her gift from B and I.  A bike helmet and a ticket to go pick out whatever bike she wanted.

At school, we took special cookies for her class to have and they sang happy birthday.

Then that night was our big bash.

This year, C wanted a bowling party with The Little Mermaid theme. So that's what we did.

These cookies made the party for me.  They are so cute and were so good!

All the little girls seemed to have a really good time bowling.  For some, this was their first time and they all were a hoot to watch.

Most were super focused on watching their ball.

And they loved cheering for each other.

Super focused face.

After bowling, it was time for pizza, cake/cookie and presents.

And as if the party couldn't get any better, we got to play games.

The picture above was about 3 minutes before the birthday girl had a complete meltdown and could hardly control herself.  It was an awesome way to end the party.  NOT.

Girl drama.  What are you going to do?

She finally collected herself and we were able to go have dinner with my parents before crashing as soon as we got home.

Her 5th birthday will go down in the books as the most exhausting birthday, both physically and mentally, ever!

I remember her "birth" day too! She's such a gorgeous young lady inside and out! I LOVE her "5" outfit with the tutu! You are just so crafty!
