Road Trip

This weekend was our first road trip with two kids.  We were both nervous about how Uryah would do but he couldn't have been more perfect!

C, on the other hand, was so excited, it was hard for her to stay entertained.

Trying to stay entertained with selfies.

Thankfully, it was only a three and a half hour drive and once we got to her cousin's house, she was in heaven.

Saturday, the whole family went to the Indianapolis Zoo.

The kids, minus Shaffer who was not feeling picture time.

The whole gang.

We died over this picture of the girls!

And how cute are the babies?!

We are zoo people and love going anytime one is close.

This was U's first zoo trip and he did great!

At one point, he and our niece both fell asleep in the stroller which prompted several people to ask if they were twins.

Ha!  They are 7 months apart but because I have a very large baby and my niece is very petite, they are pretty close in size.

We of course had to hit up the play ground before we left.

The rest of the weekend was spent playing and hanging out as a family.

C can never get enough time with her cousins.

We got back around 5 last night and I had to go on a grocery run and start laundry.  I've been half dead all day so an early bedtime is a must tonight.

Class of 2028

Last Wednesday night (05-13-15), C graduated Pre-School.  I had been dreading the day for weeks and teared up every time I thought about her leaving her current school.  In the last 5 years, she has made some incredible friends and I can't believe this chapter of her life is about to end.

She, however, couldn't be happier.

I was afraid I would be a complete mess during the graduation but she locked eyes with me in the beginning and I wasn't about to let her see me cry.

The class picked several fun songs to sing and they were absolutely adorable to watch!

Seeing this about got me.

Not really fair for them to do this.  :)  I swear it felt like she was graduating high school.

All the kids told what they wanted to be when they grow up.  C said she wanted to be a cheerleader.

This came out of left field but several of her friends had the same answer so there ya go.  She tells me she is going to be a builder and a mom.

B and I are so proud of the little girl she is becoming and we can't wait to see what God has planned for her.

We Never Slow Down

This past week has been bananas. We had several things going on that had us running here, there and yonder and naturally it was a perfect time for my car to semi break down.  Thankfully, my parent's still have my mom's old SUV so I borrowed it for the 3 days while my car was in the shop and we didn't have to be a one car family.

My mom has had this particular SUV for several years so I know this vehicle pretty well but apparently not well enough to know how to properly install a car seat base.  We were driving home from C's dance class the other night and I looked in the rear view mirror to find this...

I don't even know how this happened.  It's not like I was taking turns at 60 mph.  I asked C why she didn't tell me when it happened and she said she didn't think about it since he seemed fine.  Nice.  I would love to say this was the only time it happened but sadly it was not.  #mamafail

This weekend we had several events going on so we continued to run all weekend.

Our first event was a graduation party for the daughter of a friend of mine.  I made a few decorations for the party so C and I helped set up then later came back to attend the party.

It honestly seems like last year that I was graduating high school and not 14 years ago.  Time is flying by way too quickly.

Sunday after church, there was a picnic for the Pre-School classes and their parents.

All the kids had so much fun running around playing with each other and the parents enjoyed the social hour.  I took zero pictures because B and I played pass the 20 pound baby and then C got hurt so I got to handle that fun, dramatic scene.

Right after the picnic, we headed to Nashville for a birthday party for one of C's friends.  It was at a trampoline place and C had the time of her life!

She loves these trampoline places and had made us promise to take her back.

We got home later that afternoon and I started laundry and getting everything laid out for today.  I died of exhaustion around 10pm only to wake up around 1am to a son who has recently discovered there is no place better to sleep than RIGHT next to his mama.  This habit will end soon because I'm tired of my eyes burning every morning and feeling like I've been run over by a truck.

Mother's Day Weekend

Our weekend was filled with lots of fun family activities.  Friday night, we met my parents and two grandmothers at The Oasis in Franklin to have an early Mother's Day dinner.  We haven't seen either grandmother in a couple of weeks so they got to ooo and ahh over C and U for a couple of hours.  C obviously was worn out by all the attention.

Because that's how princesses sleep in the car. Crack up.

Saturday morning, we took the kids to 2nd Saturday on the square in Bowling Green.  It's an event that our town hosts for vendors of all kinds plus car enthusiasts on the second Saturday of every month through the summer.  We've never been and didn't know what to expect.

The first thing we ran into was a group of line dancers dancing in the street.

C was fascinated with the dancers and watched them for awhile.  It was quite the show.

We spent the rest of our time walking around looking at all the vendors, shopping the local shops downtown and of course, throwing coins in the fountain.

Later that afternoon, B got to work on mulching around the house.  Always a super fun job but I had to sit out this year so I could stay inside with a cute little baby.  C stepped up though and took my place spreading the mulch.

She even tried to help her daddy scoop.

But clearly that job was too heavy.

They got done just in time for us to head out to B's softball game.  It was such a nice night to sit out and support our church league's team.  Well, U and I sat while C ran around with her friends on the playground.

Sunday. was a big day at our house.  I get to do absolutely nothing every Mother's Day and C was all about pampering me.  The first thing she said to me was, 'It's Mother's Day!  I need to get your cards I made.'  She came back with a handful of cards she had made at school and one she bought with B.  She then ran to B telling him she needed to make me breakfast.  We aren't a big breakfast kind of family especially when we are playing the Sunday morning hustle, so he looked at me on his way to the kitchen and asked what I wanted.  I told him there were muffins in the kitchen that would be perfect.  C thought she was big stuff getting me breakfast.

I'm one pretty lucky mama to get to call these two mine.

After church, we changed clothes before heading out to Chaney's Dairy Barn for lunch and an afternoon of fun.

I sat under their covered porch rocking U while watching C play on the playground.

She loves that place and U seemed to like it as well.

We came home to nap and relax the rest of the day.

Then ended our evening taking a family stroll around the neighborhood.

It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

School Pictures

We've been at our current daycare for 5 years so we have had 5 years worth of school pictures taken.  I typically ignore the day and last year, I didn't even sign the permission slip for C to get her pictures taken.  She scolded me because she was the ONLY person in her class that didn't get her picture taken.  *insert my major eye roll.*

I have nothing against school pictures but the last 3 times we have had her picture taken at school, every single picture she has this, excuse my language, go to hell look.  One year the look was so hilarious, I bought a package just to show her what a snot she is about pictures.  I was afraid this year would be the same but I signed the permission slip anyway because I didn't need another lecture from a 5 year old.

At first glance, I knew history was about to repeat itself.

I kept flipping and low and behold my daughter smiled and looked so lovely!

Except for that fading tattoo she had on her hand.  A true sign I didn't have high hopes for picture day.

Then I got to Uryah and OH MY PRECIOUS!

That smile.  That pose.  That old man look.

And the last pose my eyes fell on brought me to my knees and made me cry.

I can't even handle this.  I am going to be one hot mess at graduation.

4 Months

Uryah Bayles is 4 months old and look how excited he is about it!

He is still a super happy baby, as you can tell, and is still very laid back.  This weekend he has been the fussiest he has ever been but a lot of that has to do with his congestion.  Even when he is fussy, it lasts for 2 minutes and he's over it.

He weighs 18 pounds 4.5 ounces is 26.25" long, wears size 3 diapers and is wearing anywhere from 6 month to 9 month clothes depending on the brand.

This month he learned to grab toys and hold them,

his laugh finally came out several weeks ago and it is our daily mission to get him to laugh at us.

He hates tummy time just like his sister.

After about 2 seconds he is done which you would think the kid would learn to roll over but nope, not interested in that either.  Again, JUST like his sister.

He also still hates cereal no matter how I fix it.  He screams and gags every time we try to feed him.  I'm giving up on it because it is not worth it.  He seems to be doing just fine on his 6 ounce bottles every 3 hours and I mean EVERY 3 hours.  If he is asleep during the day, his little eyes pop open 10 minutes before feeding time.  It is the funniest thing.  Occasionally he will stay asleep but not often.

He sleeps pretty well at night.  His last feeding is usually between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm and he goes down right after that.  He will sleep until 6:00 am the next morning which sounds great except he is a restless sleeper and will kick his legs and jerk his arms around.  I have him in a sleep sack to try to contain him but he still manages kick and carry on.  I'm not sure what to do.  He also whimpers at times when his paci falls out.  90% of the time he doesn't sleep with it but I guess there are times when he wants it and whines and naturally it's about 1:00 am when he wants it.  Even with all that going on, I'm sleeping a decent amount and thankful I don't have to get up to feed him during the night.

He "talks" up a storm.  In the mornings while I'm getting ready, he will sit in his bouncy seat and jabber all morning.  His Sunday School teachers comment every week how much he talks to them.  Ha!   He has a lot to say.  He is also trying so hard to repeat what you're saying.  His little mouth will move, trying to imitate yours.

C still loves her some brother and he loves him some C.

Of course, he has no choice.  She still is all in his grill 24/7.  Thank goodness, he is a good natured baby or we could have problems.  :)

We have a doctor's appointment today and will learn what fun things we get to work on this next month.
