A Little (or a lot) of Rain Can't Stop Us

Well that wasn't the best weather weekend we've ever had lately but no amount of rain was going to put a damper on our weekend.

C likes to be prepared.

Friday, C got to spend the whole day with her daddy.  He took her to lunch at McDonald's so she could enjoy her favorite meal, chicken and fries.  Then he took her to get ice cream and play at Chaney's Dairy Barn.

She had a blast!  When I got home, she went on and on about the "farm" and how she really wanted to go back.

Daddy/Daughter day was a success!

Saturday, we took a trip to Barnes and Noble for story time with Belle.

It was a packed house and all the little girls were beyond excited.  Mine was more excited over her afternoon snack...

The minute we walked in Barnes and Noble, she said she wanted to "eat" there.  I think her Momoi and Pap must have done this with her before.

And last night, we hit up a Hot Rods baseball game.

Again more excited about the popcorn.  Actually she was pretty excited about the ballgame and cried a little when we left.  She had a blast dancing EVERY single time a song came on.

Late in the game, C said she wanted to take a picture with me.  Aww how sweet right?  Not so much.

Brent seemed to be taking forever with the picture and then I figured out why!  There were at least 10 pictures like this.  Just like her daddy.

It's That Time of Year

I've got the Spring Cleaning bug!  Nothing is safe.  I can hear my mom now sighing heavily because typically when I clean out my house, I return all the junk I've borrowed from her.  I've already got 2 bags for her.  You're welcome Mom!

With this cleaning of the junk, I'm also trying to organize.  My tiny house came with ZERO storage so I'm constantly trying to maintain the clutter.

My project tonight was a place for towels in C's bathroom.  They've had a home under the sink like most towels but that left no room for anything else.  This brings us tonight's craft.

I spray painted a galvanized bucket from Tractor Supply, then added vinyl letters.

I realize that it seems extremely simple (and it was!) but this has freed up so much space underneath the sink.  I feel so accomplished in my Spring Cleaning!

Sadly that feeling doesn't last long when I realized that only 1 of those towels is clean.  :(  Maybe laundry should have been on my To Do List tonight.

Princess Party

Saturday evening, Cecilia got all dressed up for Sydney's princess birthday party.

Jaclyn had the house decked out and even planned to have a special visitor come.  Who was that special visitor you ask?  Why none other they Cinderella herself!  All the girl's mouths dropped when she walked in and they just stared.  Minds blown!

Cinderella painted their faces or hands for those who weren't studying paint on their face (that would be my child).

Seriously, C did nothing but stare at her the entire time.

Then she read them a book on how to be polite like a princess.

And of course a lesson on how to wave...

and curtsy.

Last, they got in a circle and she sang a song from her movie.

All the girls were in complete awe of her!  And who wouldn't be.

Never Ending

Friday afternoon, we had an appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist.  Since birth, Cecilia has problems with her eyes watering.  We figured out very early that her tear ducts were clogged but were told she could grow out of it.  Well she didn't.  So off to the ophthalmologist we went.

We've talked about going to the doctor for a couple weeks to prepare C for what was going to happen.  I knew it wasn't going to be dramatic but I still like to prepare her so she isn't surprised.  All that talking must have worked because she did fantastic.

She had a little eye exam where she got to wear a few different kinds of cool shades.  We learned she has excellent vision (yeah!!! She's not blind as a bat like her daddy!!).

The only thing she got a little dramatic about was getting her eyes dilated.  She didn't dare cry in front of the nurse but she made it clear it hurt her feelings.  HA!  She got over it quick.

We met with the doctor, who is a twin sister to my sister in law-they were just separated at birth.  Seriously, as soon as she walked in, I immediately thought of my SIL.  It was like I was in the twilight zone.  Brent thought the same thing!

Anyway, Dr. Flemmons was so sweet and WONDERFUL with Cecilia.  She was super friendly and C took right up to her.  She confirmed what we already knew (clogged ducts) and told us our options, the main one being surgery.  It's a no brainer for us because A. how annoying to constantly have tears run down your face and B. kids bounce back a lot better than adults.

We feel like it is never ending with her but hey, that's the joys of having kids.

Our smaller, whiter version of Ray Charles.

Weekend Warrior, Kind Of

I was not short of things to do this weekend.  I'm taking full advantage of these nice, cool weekends.

First project: Paint cheap white shelf.

3 Shelf Pasadena Bookcase - Pure White

We've had one of these sitting in our kitchen that we used to put the microwave on.  I've been saying for 2 years that I was going to paint it but never pulled the trigger.

Well a few weeks ago, I picked up the HGTV Magazine and saw this cute two toned beauty...

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!  So guess what I did?

(Like my photo bomber?  Why when I don't need to take a picture of her does she stand so still and smiles?  Argh!)

Yep, painted that bad boy just like the picture.

I love how it turned out!

And even though those are pretty bold colors, the shelf doesn't stand out like it did before.

Project 1:  Complete.

Second Project: Need pop of color in front of house.

My house is beige with black shutters and we have a bunch of green bushes in front of the house.  This all adds up to the house looking a little blah.  What's the cheapest way to fix that?  Add flowers in a cute planter.

I hit up the Dollar Store for a plastic planter.  Love the shape but hate the color obviously.

I spray painted it turquoise because as Brent said this weekend, I'm obsessed with that color.  Then I added flowers.

Yeah, kind of in love with that too.

Project 2:  Complete and FABULOUS!!!

Third and final project:  Landscape

This is the year that we have to do some major landscaping; plant flowers, bushes and mulch.  All things that I love to look at but hate the work.

To kick start that huge project, we planted a few new flowering bushes in the front and I planted a few little goodies in back yard.

The one thing I hate about planting flowers is that you have to wait for the dang things to grow and really bloom.  I like instant gratification in plants.  I mean this looks pitiful but has potential to be really pretty as long as I don't kill.

Oh well, it is a start.

Project 3: Almost complete

3yr Stats

We had Cecilia's 3 year check up yesterday.

I wish I could rattle off all her true stats but I can't; I totally forgot them.  I know she weighs about 31 pounds and is about 38 inches tall.  This put her in the 50th percentile.  Her blood pressure is normal or I say normal.  The nurse told me what it was but honestly she could have said 3 over 2 and I wouldn't know the difference.  I thought it was weird that they even did it at her age but whatever.  C thought it was cool.

After a few goofy questions (are you a boy or girl?  do you like to play house?), we were out the door.  She seems to be right on track with everything so we are pleased.

I have a love hate relationship with this age.  Even though it's so fun watching her figure things out, the attitude and back talking have got to go!  I'm not sure I have ever seen one child be so much like their parent but have mercy she is just like Brent.

Kidding.  She is a true mini me and that is our biggest struggle.

And even though her and I have our daily struggles, she can flip the switch and can be the sweetest thing in the world.  She loves to give hugs and will kiss your face off and there is nothing sweeter than when we are cuddled up at night and she whispers 'I love you.'

This year she has learned to count to 10 in Spanish and to 13/14 in English.  She knows all her colors and shapes.  She uses both hands to do everything so we still aren't for sure if she will be left or right handed.

She loves to be on the go.

Everyday after I pick her up, she asks 'where we going?' and is always very disappointed when I say home.

She is very prissy and all girl.  Loves playing with purses and playing dress up.

Playing mama is by far her favorite thing the in world.  She still talks about wanting and needing a baby.  I told the doctor yesterday her biological clock was ticking a little early.

She loves being outside running, riding her bike and playing in the dirt and rocks.  And the swing set was a great investment!

Cecilia Reid, you are a handful most days and give me a run for my money but don't ever think I don't thank the good Lord for you.  We can't imagine our life without our wild and crazy Gee!

We love you and here's to hoping we both survive the next year!

Happy Birthday Bob and Larry!!

Yesterday, my mom and I took Cecilia to see Veggie Tales Live!

This year it was Bob and Larry's birthday and someone was super excited to be there.

And super excited about getting popcorn!

Even though the theme was different from last year, the songs were all the same which was a little disappointing to me but C didn't seem to care.

Best Mom Ever hug!

After the show, we went to dinner where I snapped this picture of my 3 year old looking 13.

The purse is killing me!

Gone in a Blink

If you ever want your Saturday to fly by, put together a swing set.  This is how our Saturday started...

My construction crew (Brent and my dad) both thought that it would only take a few hours but after it taking 45 minutes to put the ladder together, they quickly learned this was going to take most of the day.  Good thing they had plenty of help!

C organizing the pieces.

It was all hands on deck all day.

Well most hands.  C got tired and needed a weightlifting break.

My main job was to read the directions and hold things.

C still on break trying to be like Momoi.

Finally she got off break and decided to use those muscles she was working on earlier.

She was right under my dad and Brent all day.  My dad kept saying 'you're like some other little girl I know.'  I was always right beside him when he was working on anything.  I loved handing him tools and working on stuff.

After 8 hours, we still weren't done but we were running out of daylight.  At least we got the most important part up.

1st trip down the slide.

Brent and I still have a couple of hours left on the set but at least we have the big stuff done.  We just have to recover first!
