Off To See The Wizard

Last night, we had a little girls night out with my mom's cousin and granddaughter.

My mom had bought tickets for the 3 of us to go watch The Wizard of Oz at SKYPAC a couple of weeks ago thinking it would be fun to take C.  Well my dad came home last week and announced that he had just won 2 tickets to the same show off a local radio show.  He had completely forgotten that my mom had just bought some!  What are the odds!

We quickly decided that it would be fun for us to invite my mom's cousin and her granddaughter, Gwyneth.  Gwyneth and C just happen to go to the same daycare and have since they were babies.  And with them being only 6 months apart, they are in the same class.  Both girls were so excited!

They were so sweet all night holding hands, laughing and being silly.

I had the pleasure of getting to sit with both girls for the first half of the show.

They were so good and well behaved!  At the funny parts, they would turn to each other and laugh.  It was so cute!

Everyone seemed to have a really good time especially the girls!  I'm loving that we are entering the age of fun outings with friends!  Let's just hope she'll always let me tag along.

Easter Weekend

C and Brent were both off/out of school on Friday so I took half a day off so we could all go do something fun.

Our first stop was mini golf.  C has been begging everyday to go play "golf" and it was finally warm enough to go.

Then it was off to Sonic for an ice cream cone.

After a few errands, we came home to play outside but that didn't last long because someone doesn't like bugs and freaks out if one comes within a mile of her.  That someone is NOT me.

All week long C has been receiving Easter goodies in the mail from all her family that lives out of town.

Every box that comes to the door, she assumes is hers and is near meltdown mode when its not.  Spoiled much?

Saturday late afternoon, C had a birthday party for her friend Sydney.

It was an art party with stations set up with different crafts at each station.  BIG hit!  C came home with 4 crafts that she is very proud of.

On our way home we swung by my Nanny's house because she got a special delivery last week.

C has a small obsession with cows and loves when Nanny gets calves in the spring.

She also got to help Nanny with a few chores.

Sunday, we woke up to goodies that the Easter bunny had left.

On the way home from church, C enjoyed part of her gift from her Sunday School teacher.

She giggled and carried on with the pin wheel the whole way home.

A little photo session.

No family picture because my husband is the biggest party pooper EVER!  #worsethanakid

We enjoyed the rest of the day doing Easter crafts, playing outside and just relaxing as a family.

Later that afternoon, we headed to my parent's house to grub on the traditional Easter dinner...

What?  You didn't have jambalaya at your Easter gathering?  :)

My dad is a pretty amazing dude and he not only made us jambalaya but red beans and rice as well.  It was a full Cajun fest!  The only thing missing was some alligator! Maybe next year.  ;)

Easter Eggs, Parties and Kittens

It was another jammed packed weekend for the Millers!

Saturday morning, the company Brent works for, hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for all it's employee's kids.  This was our second year to participate and C had the best time.  Of course having one of her BF's from school could have had something to do with it.

Both their little eyes lit up when they saw each other!

These mornings are always fun.  They had a few activities for the kids and the Easter Bunny was there for pictures although C didn't get within 50 feet of him.  They also had Broadway the Clown come do a little magic show.

Once the show was over, it was time to get our hunt on.

Brent gave her a little pep talk before they turned them loose because egg hunting is serious business.  I had to remind her AND him that there would be no knocking kids out of the way.

She filled her bucket with eggs and came running back assuring me she didn't hit or push anyone.  That's my girl! They were so smart this year by not filling the eggs with tiny crap that I'm going to throw away as soon as I got home.  Instead, they gave each kid a bag full of goodies to take with them.

After the egg hunt, we came home to relax for a few hours then we were back out the door heading to a birthday party for one of C's school friends.

The party was a carnival theme and was a kids dream.  They had two bounce houses,

carnival games,

and kittens!

Not that kittens are typically a carnival thing but C was in love!

This one ALMOST came home with us.  Apparently my husband has had a change in heart about cats (I have not had that change in heart) and is now talking about letting her have a cat.  I don't even know who he is right now.

Thankfully, she was easily distracted by the bounce house and I still have a cat free home.

Sunday, we took little diva to church.

Then headed to Franklin to see The Story put on by community churches and The Art Council.

Both my parents were participating so we went to show our support.  It was so good and was a perfect way to spend Palm Sunday.

Friendships

Many of you are not going to care about this post but because my blog is our only family scrapbook, I wanted to document what's been going on the past few days in C's life.

It appears she has had her first fight with one of her best friends at school.

When I picked her up on Wednesday afternoon, she immediately told me that her best friend had just yelled at her.  At first I didn't think much about because well, they're 4 and C wears her feelings on her sleeve.  But then she starting acting funny.  She wanted to be held and buried her face in my neck as we walked out.  I could tell she was near tears.

We got in the car and she repeated that *insert friend's name* had yelled at her and hurt her feelings.  This went on all night and she was on the verge of tears every time she talked about.  I couldn't get the whole story of why her friend yelled at her but it doesn't matter.  I tried to explain to her that friends sometimes get mad and say things that they don't really mean and that sometimes we get in bad moods and snap at people who don't deserve it.  We talked a little more but I'm not sure how much she understood because again she's 4 and this is kind of a big girl conversation.  One that I wasn't expecting to have for awhile.

I felt bad for her and wanted to make it better but I couldn't.  Brent suggested she just knock her out the next time she yells at her but that's a guy for ya.  They can have knock down drag outs and be best buddies 5 minutes later.  Girls not so much.

Bless her heart, C tries to be friends with everyone and wants everyone to like her.  Her feelings are easily hurt and she so sensitive about everything.  Look at her wrong and she is in a puddle.

I'm hoping this whole things blows over and C forgets about it.  Even though yesterday she told me it was a good day because *insert friend's name* didn't yell at her. *sigh*

I'm sure this is the many of best friend fights and we have a lot more drama headed our way.  I just wasn't expecting this to all start so soon.  Looks like mama is going to have to get medicated sooner than we though! ;)  Kidding.  Kind of.

Weekend Fun

Our weekend was jam packed with fun activities!

Saturday morning, we headed over to a birthday party for one of C's dance friends.

You know it's going to be a good party when you pull up and see this...

and even though it was a princess themed party and all the girls were dressed up, that didn't stop them from playing on this thing all morning!  They didn't care if their skirts flew up showing off their delicates and if their feet got caught up in their dresses, they hiked them up and played on.

Not long into the party, a special visitor showed up, Elsa from Frozen!  The girls flipped out!

She read them a story during snack time and then did makeup and nails when everyone was done.

Once everyone was dolled up, Elsa taught them dance moves to her song Let it Go and they performed for the moms.

They were so stinkin' cute and loved every minute of it!

C has already asked if she could live at her friend's house because I'm sure she thinks it's like that all the time!

After the party, we did a quick change, picked up my mom and headed to the square in my hometown.  There was a festival of sorts going on and I wanted to visit a few shops downtown.  We even got to visit a new shop in town where C scored big time on a new necklace that she got to make herself.

Naturally it was a Frozen themed necklace.

The fun didn't stop there.  The three of us headed to Bowling Green for a little more shopping and then my mom and I got a rare movie date just the two of us.

We went to see God's Not Dead.  Wow!  If you haven' t seen it, you need to.  It was a pretty awesome movie.

C got her own little date with Pap!  She talked him into all her favorites.  Chick-fil-a for dinner, the mall for a train ride,

M&M chocolate chip cookie,

and Barnes and Noble for reading time,

 and playtime.

Her life is tough.

Sunday, we went to church then enjoyed playing outside all day until it was time to go to my Granny's for dinner.  We got home just in time to put pjays on and hit the bed.

All three of us had a hard time getting up this morning and weren't very happy about it being Monday and having to function.  Early bedtimes for all of us tonight.
