1st Halloween

Tonight we celebrated Cecilia's 1st Halloween.

We dressed her up like a peacock. Feather tail and all! I was so pleased at how her outfit turned out. I was a little nervous at first when the thought popped in my head but the minute I got the tutu done I knew it was going to be fabulous!

Since Franklin was doing their trick or treating tonight, we decided to go down to my parent's house and let any and all family members that wanted to see her come over.

Everyone ended up coming over and showered our little peacock with lots of treats. Even Uncle Mayo and Aunt (soon to be) Leslie got to Skype and see Cecilia.

She was so good all night long and didn't bother her feathers once. She was more interested in her headband than anything else. I was so glad I decided to have everyone at one location because I could not imagine having to take her in and out of the car seat then tie on her tail. It would have been a nightmare!

Tomorrow we will dress in our Halloween dress and pass out candy to the 5 trick or treaters that come by the house. Our first Halloween was very relaxing and enjoyable. Let's hope this is a trend during the rest of the upcoming holidays!

Happy Halloween!

I'm Sorry and You Are?

This I'm sure was Cecilia's first thought when we sat her and Sydney down together the other night at the Konow's. We were long overdue for a playdate and our schedules finally made it possible for us to hang out with them.

Jaclyn had the ingenious idea of us coming to their house instead of trying to take the girls out. It was perfect and we had a great time playing with the girls and catching up with them.

Jac had the living room transformed into a play area for the girls and they loved it! Of course, Cecilia didn't quite need that much space because she only sits and well, Sydney was loving the wide open space to roll around. It was the funniest thing because Sydney was EVERYWHERE and Cecilia never moved an inch! I was hoping she watched Sydney enough to finally roll over today but no such luck. She just stared and smiled at Brent and I as we cheered her on.

Sydney was nice enough to share her toys (regardless of what her mama says) and the girls spent the whole night on the floor playing.

We eventually got them face to face to greet one another. This picture makes it look as if Cecilia is a snob but I assure you she grabbed for Sydney the way babies do when they meet.

We desperately tried to get a good picture of them all night but since their attention span only lasts about 2 seconds I didn't get one of them both looking at me.

Sydney going in for the kill. She was trying to grab Cecilia's fingers to chew on! Cecilia was looking at Jac for reassurance that this was normal and ok.

Cecilia has this same Boppy at home and she loves scratching on it. But instead of her scratching the side closest to her, she decided that she would just reach over Sydney! Sydney was trying to figure out what she was doing.

We had a lot of fun hanging out with the Konow's and we can only hope this was the first of many many playdates!

Thanks again Corey, Jac and Sydney! We had a BLAST!

7 Months

Here we are again, another month down.

You are still about 19 lbs and some change, wearing 6-9 month clothes, 9 month sleepers and a size 3 diaper. You eat cereal in the morning and a veggie at night along with half a fruit jar. We have still found NOTHING you don't like!

You are sleeping pretty well. You go to bed around 6:30 but for some reason this past week you have decided that 4:30 is your new wake time. We are currently in the process of changing that. Mama don't do 4:30. Neither does Daddy.

Oh and speaking of Daddy, I think you said "daddy" on Sunday. You were laying around chewing on your pacifier talking and something that sounded a lot like daddy came out. We thought we heard it once more later that night but in true Cecilia fashion you have yet to say it again.

As you can see, you are sitting up like a champ and only have a few tip overs every now and then. You love to entertain us with your endless chatter and your funny squeals.

You have discovered Colt and you find him hilarious! You will sit for hours watching him run around chasing his ball and crack up when he makes his funny noises. You love him very much but unfortunately he does not love you back. Every time you reach out to touch him he bolts. I have never seen him move as fast as I do when he figures out you are the one touching him!

We have only had to deal with one ear infection this month (knock on wood) but I'm afraid one could be coming on because you are currently sounding like a 2 pack a day-er with a runny nose. This usual leads to an ear infection. We are trying our hardest to get you better.

We have learned that you like to stand for short periods of time and are actually pretty good at it. I guess this could be considered a new trick but its not like you are moving anywhere!

I find you like this a lot...

laying back on the Boppy talking and chewing on your pacifier. You haven't figured out how to sit back up so after a few minutes you starting whining for someone to come save you. I have also found you on your belly a lot too. Not that you are trying to roll over, you have just underestimated how far a toy is and fall flat when you can't quite reach it. It annoys you to be on your belly so you will let out a few cries until we flip you over. The shirt also says it all about your personality lately but then again you get it honest. Daddy can be very sassy at times! :)

Paintin'

We finally got to decorate Cecilia's pumpkin tonight.

She loved it and took to it like a pro!

Her design was very thought out and she contemplated every stroke.

Both hands were needed to really get the effect she was looking for.

I had to lend a helping hand so she wouldn't lose focus.

It was fun watching her decorate her pumpkin even though she had no clue as to what she was doing. The paint didn't seem to bother her, as a matter of fact, she didn't even notice it.

We had minimal paint on her and I and she didn't eat any paint thanks to the pacifier.

The finished product. Puts us in the Halloween spirit!

I Blinked

I'm sitting here at 8:38 pm wondering where my weekend just went. I feel as though I blinked on Friday night and now it is Sunday night. We had another packed weekend that has left us all completely exhausted.
We kicked our weekend off with a yard sale at my Nanny's. I don't really do yard sales. I HATE pulling all my unwanted junk out of closets and the attic, pricing it, and having it sit in my guest bedroom awaiting for the day I haul it out the door. But I had all Cecilia's clothes I wanted to get rid of so I decided to bite the bullet and just do it.
The yard sale sellers consisted of Nanny (well she only had like 2 items. apparently she "doesn't have anything she needs to get rid of." guess she couldn't find anything in those 2 attics of hers!), my aunt, uncle, Kelli, Kristopher, my mom, and myself.
The good thing about the whole thing other than walking away with some $$ was Cecilia got to hang out with the family.
She was passed around and she kept us entertained during the LONG periods of time when there were no customers.

Nanny even allowed her to help her with the cash box.

The yard sale was a semi success. I got rid of about 1/4th of her clothes and got some cash to buy her fall clothes. I think I'm taking the rest to consignment. It's easier that way.

Hanging out on Nan's glider.

Today, we had a birthday celebration for my great, great Aunt Kathryn. She will be 96 tomorrow and my Granny wanted to celebrate this amazing point in time. Aunt Kathryn still lives by herself and is still sharp as a tack.

I tease my Granny about out lasting us all, and she always replies that Aunt Kathryn will be the one to do that! I can't imagine all the things she has seen in her lifetime. The woman amazes me!

Lots of her friends and family came by to wish her a happy birthday. I'm bettin' we do this all over again at her 100th birthday! :)

Table decoration

This afternoon we headed out to Jackson's Orchard to get Cecilia a pumpkin and enjoy their Fall Festival.
It was a nice day but a little warm for fall (note C in a summer dress!). There wasn't too big of a crowd so we were able to enjoy ourselves and she loved watching all the people mill around. I really wanted to take her on the hayride but there was a huge line and I just didn't think it was worth it. We opted for a fried apple pie with ice cream and apple chips and caramel instead! :)

A good time was had by all and Cecilia ended up walking away with 4 pumpkins. One (the one next to her) her Daddy swears he is going to carve for her. We shall see!

Big Announcement

My day started off with a phone call from my brother. Usually it's an email but today was a phone call. Hmm...what could he be calling for?

To tell his precious, adorable baby sister that...

HE IS ENGAGED!!!!

AHHHH!!!! I was completely surprised but knew this day was coming.

Leslie, I want to welcome you into this craziness we call the Mayeur family. You are a brave woman for wanting to share you life with my brother but I am confident you can handle it! :)

Mayo, I'm extremely proud of you and think you picked a fantastic woman to join our family.
Brent, Cecilia and I are so excited and happy for the both of you! Congratulations!

Homecoming

Homecoming is a big deal in small towns. All week long you can find store front's painted, high school kids running around town in their school colors doing silly things to earn points for their class, and at the end of the week the whole town shuts down for an hour to watch the parade.

My hometown in no different and last week was my old high school's Homecoming.

And since Cecilia was staying with my Nanny on Friday, she was able to experience her first Homecoming parade.

She is anxiously awaiting the decorated floats and the big tractors that pull them.

The excitement of all the candy being thrown and all the beautiful Homecoming candidates stops her in her tracks.

Brayden was so excited about the whole thing he fell asleep at the sheer thought of all those tractors and pretty floats.

Brayden apparently slept through the whole thing while Cecilia just sat there starring. You will notice that Cecilia is dressed as if it is cold and yet she has no shoes or socks on. Hmm...what a fantastic mother I am. I was so worried about wind blowing on her ears that I completely forgot about her feet!

After the parade, Cecilia got to hang out with my mom and her co-workers for a bit until I could get there.

She was good for them and they loved having her there.

Unfortunately though, because she was wearing a light blue top she got called a boy. Thankfully my mom's boss jumped right in and asked him the last time he saw a boy wearing a bow.
That's the third time that has happened. Since Halloween is approaching I think I will go buy her a wig until she grows her own hair. Maybe then we won't have anymore confusion.
(Thanks Freak for taking the pics! You did a good job!)

Little Mayo?

Over the past couple of months a few people have started saying Cecilia looks like my brother, Jason aka Mayo. I laughed it off but the other day when I went to pick Cecilia up from my mom's work, 2 of the women who have known us from birth said she looked just like him! Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I mean who wants to give birth to a precious baby girl who looks like her brother?

During the 9 months I was pregnant, I dreamed of what Cecilia would look like. Would she have more of Brent's features or mine? Would she have his dark hair or my lighter hair? Of all the faces I had going in my head, my brother's face definitely was not one of them.

So here I am again posting a comparison between my brother and Cecilia.
As my dad put it, 'do we really have another Mayo melon?'
